Windmill Hut – Piano and Violin Medley
Posted on October 30 2013 by ralphpotato
Medleys seem to be the most popular way to cover Zelda music, and I’ve often wondered why that is. I suppose it would be rather disappointing to listen to music in 30-45 seconds chunks, and considering a lot of Zelda music is designed to loop after a short period of time, single pieces that lasted 2 minutes could get boring.
Either way, hit the jump to listen to a fantastic piano and violin medley!
Both the violin and piano parts are wonderful. All put together, it creates a really relaxing video. Though this wasn’t a particularly adventurous medley in terms of instrument choice, the it’s very well played and is a great listen.
If you simply don’t have time to listen to the entire 10 minutes, at least check out the amazing Lon Lon Ranch cover starting at the 8:45 mark. The violin part is absolutely superb, and I believe gives the feel of a ranch like Koji Kondo intended much more than a Nintendo 64’s abilities ever could.
Most of the music comes fromĀ Ocarina of Time, however there are bits from other games. Do you think you can identify all of the parts in the medley? Also let us know what you think in the comments!
