The Wind Waker HD represents yet another successful remake of a popular Zelda title. After incorporating the Quick Sail item and reworking the animation for stunning graphics, the game served as a huge incentive to buy a specialized Wii U bundle, bolstering sales of Nintendo’s latest console tremendously. The game has also been available on the eShop for a while now and is undoubtedly a favorite among Nintendo players.

The Zelda franchise has always been popular with Nintendo fans, but the consistency with which we show our love and support is probably a huge reason why this series has paid close attention to the players and been so innovative in the past. Once again, the Zelda team at Nintendo is being rewarded for their hard work and open ears with a top spot in Wii U downloads. Below is a list of the top twenty eShop downloads for the Wii U. You’ll notice that besides claiming the #1 spot, Zelda titles take up four of the top download positions, showing yet again that the our love for the older titles lives on and the greatness of classic games like A Link to the Past is standing the test of time every day.

If this weren’t enough success, Zelda titles are also serving as five of the top twenty eShop downloads for the 3DS, which include Ocarina of Time 3D as the #2 game and The Legend of Zelda as #7. I would say these numbers are strongly in favor of future Zelda reboots and re-releases as they are highly popular, no doubt due to the fact that they address issues players had with the originals and provide fun and sometimes quirky new features for casual players and speed runners alike.
