Will We Ever See an Ocarina of Time HD?

Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest games Nintendo has ever made and it’s become apparent that Nintendo will do everything it can to recycle that game over and over. It released on the N64, and then re-released alongside the Master Quest on the GameCube. It was released yet again as part of the Zelda Collector’s Edition on the GameCube, and then when the Nintendo Wii launched, Ocarina of Time was one of the first games on the virtual console. Jump ahead to 2011 and Ocarina of Time was graphically upgraded for its Nintendo 3DS release.

Now that Nintendo has made the Wind Waker HD… it makes me think that it is inevitable that Nintendo will eventually make an Ocarina of Time HD as well. With Hyrule Warriors coming out this year, Zelda Wii U sometime in 2015, and of course the possibility of Majora’s Mask 3D, as well as the next new Zelda title for the 3DS, the Zelda series looks to be a bit crowded in 2014 and 2015. Ocarina of Time HD seems like such a sure-fire way for Nintendo to pull that much needed extra bit of revenue. So what do you think, will Ocarina of Time HD ever be made? I’m of the belief that Ocarina of Time HD will definitely happen, and it will happen fairly soon, as in sometime in the next 4 years. I’m torn on whether or not I think it will be its own separate game, or perhaps in some sort of Zelda HD Collector’s Edition. My guess is that the Nintendo Wii U is not going to have a very long life cycle. Having launched in 2012, I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of 2015, talks of the next Nintendo home console is out in the open.

With Zelda Wii U likely to release in 2015, the next major console Zelda title isn’t going to be around until likely 2018, or even later. So what will fill that gap for the Zelda fan base? How does Ocarina of Time HD sound like as a launch title for the next Nintendo console? Perhaps in 2016 or 2017, whenever the next Nintendo console releases? Sounds like a good idea to me.
