Wild West Twilight Princess
Posted on April 14 2012 by Axle D. Wilder
Got a new discussion video for you guys. This time around I’m going to talk about Twilight Princess and its “wild west” themes. This is the stuff you see a bit in Kakariko Village or (as commenters on YouTube have pointed out) in Link’s rancher background, and even with the spurs that are used to tell you how many speed boosts you have left on the horse. But of course, it’s most obvious in the Hidden Village.
Either way, there are a number of Wild West themes in the game, and after seeing some of Midna’s original concept artwork in Hyrule Historia, I began to think about this stuff again. I was previously annoyed about the wild west stuff, but now I think I’m annoyed that there wasn’t more of it. I go into details in the video. You can watch it here or check out the embed after the jump.
So what about you? What were your initial thoughts about the wild west themes in Twilight Princess? Did you like them, dislike them, or not even notice them? Do you think that a fully wild west-themed Zelda game is a good idea, and do you think it would have been an plus for Twilight Princess? Or, do you think it’s good they didn’t do it? Should they have removed the elements they left in? Tell me in the comments!
