'''Parasitic Armored Arachnid: Gohma''' or '''Queen Gohma''' is the boss of [[Inside the Deku Tree]], the first [[dungeon]] in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]''. The strategy to defeat the boss is revealed by one of the three [[Deku Scrub]]s just prior to the confrontation.{{Ref|OoT|910|Deku Scrub}}

Being the first boss in the game, Queen Gohma is very simple to figure out how to defeat, and not very powerful. A Deku Scrub near Gohma's chamber tells Link the method to "administer the coup de grâce" to Queen Gohma. The battle initiates when Link looks up directly at the parasite (using the view button or the slingshot). Once he does this, the large arachnid drops from the ceiling and attacks [[Link]]. The young hero must be patient and wait for Gohma to expose her large eye. This gives him the opportunity to utilize either his [[Fairy Slingshot|Slingshot]] to strike the arachnid with a [[Deku Seed]] or throw a [[Deku Nut]]. Doing so leaves Queen Gohma dazed on the ground with her eyeball exposed. Link then slashes away with his [[Kokiri Sword]]. After a while, Queen Gohma begins climbing and latching onto the ceiling. The queen attempts to lay [[Gohma Larva]].{{Ref|OoT|617|[[Navi]]}}{{Ref|OoT|618|[[Navi]]}} However, when doing so, her large eye turns red. Link must aim his Slingshot accordingly and strike the eye, resulting in Queen Gohma falling to the ground. This exposes the queen's weak spot in which, once again, Link must strike. The same phase repeats and Link must shoot the eye. If Link shoots said eye before any eggs are laid, it prevents Gohma from laying them, but if she is allowed to lay eggs and they hatch, the larvae chase and attack Link alongside their mother. After dealing enough damage, this should result in the arachnid queen's defeat.

Once Queen Gohma is defeated, her remains become a [[Heart Container]]. A portal then appears to transport Link back to the [[Great Deku Tree's Meadow]], where the [[Great Deku Tree]] entrusts Link with the first [[Spiritual Stones|Spiritual Stone]], the [[Kokiri's Emerald]].{{Ref|OoT|140}}
