Allowing Link's sword to constantly be swinging

The Infinite Sword Glitch is a glitch used in Ocarina of Time. It has the effect of making Link constantly swing his sword, allowing him to quickly defeat enemies.

Since Link is constantly swinging his sword during this glitch, he will lose the ability to perform other movement techniques, such as automatically jumping off objects or even falling off ledges.

How-To Perform

  • Link will need to find an item or object that he can interact with by using the 'A' button or a 'C-button'. Objects such as bushes, sign posts, or speaking with Navi work.
  • While Link is crouching by holding the 'R' button, Link can stab forward by pressing the 'B' button. While he is attacking, he must immediately interrupt the attack by pressing the 'A' button, causing him to interact with the object ahead.
  • If done correctly, Link's sword will give off a white glow, as if he were constantly swinging. Link can then walk up to enemies or objects while repeatedly striking them.

Uses

  • The Infinite Sword Glitch can be used to then use the Hovering Glitch, which allows Link to do an assortment of things.
  • The Glitch will have the same power of the Power Crouch Stab, depending on Link's previous attack. So if Link performs a jump attack with a Deku Stick, and then the Power Crouch Stab, followed by the Infinite Sword Glitch, then each of the infinite attacks that Link does will deal 4HP a piece.
  • The Glitch can be used to get past barriers earlier in the game. For example, Link can use the glitch to get past Mido while in Kokiri Forest, before having completed the Inside the Deku Tree dungeon.

Disabling the Glitch

After Link has enabled the Infinite Sword glitch, there are a number of simple ways that Link can disable it.

  • Crouching
  • Swinging or Drawing your sword (Drawing sword during a backflip will preserve glitch)
  • Taking any damage that interrupts Link's running animation
  • Leaving an area
