White Sword

The White Sword is a recurring item in The Legend of Zelda series.

The Legend of Zelda

"MASTER USING IT AND YOU CAN HAVE THIS."

In The Legend of Zelda, the White Sword can be found in a Cave in northeast Hyrule, near a waterfall and guarded by a Lynel. Inside, Link will find an Old Man, who will give him the White Sword if he has at least five Heart Containers.

Once obtained, the White Sword replaces Link's regular Sword. It deals double damage compared to the Sword, making it very versatile against most of the enemies Link will encounter in the game, and is possible to obtain before completing Level 1: The Eagle. It can later be replaced with the Magical Sword.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, the White Sword is the second sword that Link obtains, replacing the Smith's Sword. After the Picori Blade is destroyed by Vaati, Link is eventually able to reforge it by giving the Broken Picori Blade to Melari in the Cave of Flames; Upon clearing the dungeon, Link receives the White Sword.

The White Sword deals double damage compared to the Smith's Sword. As Link gathers the Four Elements, he infuses them with the White Sword, upgrading it. After infusing the Earth Element, the White Sword's hilt turns purple, and Link gains the ability to create a copy of himself by charging a Spin Attack while standing on special tiles. After infusing the Fire Element and Water Element, the White Sword's hilt turns red and blue, respectively, and Link gains the ability to create an additional copy; The White Sword's name changes to reflect the Elements infused, becoming the White Sword (Two Elements) once the Earth and Fire Elements are infused, for example. Once all of the Four Elements are infused, the White Sword becomes the Four Sword.

Non-Canon Appearances

This section describes a subject that is or may be outside the core Zelda canon.

BS The Legend of Zelda

The hero can get the White Sword from an Old Man hiding under a grave in the graveyard if they have at least five Heart Containers. While it can technically be obtained as soon as the Blue Candle becomes available to buy at the start of Week 2, whirlwinds make the graveyard hard to reach until they are suppressed by a spell from the Old Man resident in the Starting Screen cave, 45 minutes into Week 2.

Hyrule Warriors

White Sword.png

In Hyrule Warriors, the White Sword is the Level 2 variation of the Hylian Sword. It is paired with its own, original shield, and is directly based on promotional artwork for The Legend of Zelda.

Additionally, an 8-Bit White Sword, based on its appearance in The Legend of Zelda, appears in-game as a variation of the Rapier. In the Wii U version, it is found in the Master Quest Map, while in Hyrule Warriors Legends and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, it is a cosmetic appearance for the Gleaming Rapier + and Gloomy Rapier when "8-Bit Weapons" is turned on.

amiibo

The "Link (8-Bit)" amiibo can be seen wielding the White Sword.
