A Strandtula first appears in the Suthorn Ruins, in a side-scrolling area. They can be defeated by being knocked down and flipped over on their backs, where they become vulnerable to attacks. Alternatively, their threads are flammable and fire can be used as a faster method of attack.
Once defeated Zelda can learn the Strandtula Echo, which is useful in side-scrolling areas for reaching high areas that are otherwise inaccessible.
