Breath of the Wild

In Breath of the Wild, this room is where the cocoon of Calamity Ganon is. If Link has not freed all four Divine Beasts, he will have to fight the remaining Blight Ganons here before Calamity Ganon emerges. Otherwise, as soon as Link enters, Zelda will warn Link that she cannot hold Ganon back any longer, and lasers shoot out of the cocoon, releasing Calamity Ganon. If Link has freed the Divine Beasts, the Blights will not appear as they are already destroyed. Instead, the Champions will open fire to chip off half of Ganon's health points before the battle even begins.
Nearby Korok Seeds
A wooden platform can be found on the balcony just outside the Sanctum. Stand on it to reveal the circle, and race to reach the circle before time runs out to reveal a Korok.
Shoot the balloon above the bell in the highest tower in Hyrule Castle.
Climb to the very top of the spire of the castle and examine the fairy lights.

In Tears of the Kingdom, the Champion's Leathers can be found in a chest by lighting the two torches near the throne. Different decayed Royal Guard's weapons and shield can be found scattered around the room.
After awakening the four Sages and following the Crisis at Hyrule Castle quest, Link manages to confront Zelda in the Sanctum, where she generates the illusion of the pre-Great Calamity throne room, before the ghostly figure of Ganondorf appears and reveals "Zelda" to be a puppet of his. He then transforms it into a Phantom Ganon, and two waves of Phantom Ganons attack Link. When Link defeats them, Ganondorf explodes the last of them in a wave of gloom, but Link is saved from it by the intervention of the four sages. Ganondorf then taunts them, and forces a memory of The Demon King's Army onto the group, stunning them. After this, the sages retreat to Lookout Landing for a council of war, and Link follows soon afterward.
