Deku Nuts are items from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
Ocarina of Time
Deku Nuts are the dried buds of Deku Babas. They can be obtained by defeating Deku Babas, but may also be found inside jars or in trees. Link can purchase Deku Nuts from shops, costing 15 Rupees for 5 nuts, or from Business Scrubs for 20 Rupees per 5 nuts. Deku Nuts can be used as stun grenades[1]; when thrown, the Deku Nut explodes, releasing a blinding flash that will stun enemies caught in it; however, bosses and armored enemies are immune. Deku Nuts are also used as ammo for the Fairy Slingshot.
Link can carry up to 20 Deku Nuts at the beginning of the game, but he can obtain two upgrades that raise the capacity by +10 each. Both upgrades are only available as Young Link.
- If Link enters the Forest Stage while wearing the Mask of Truth, the Forest Stage Leader will remark that Link has a very ugly face, before presenting him with the upgrade.
- In the Lost Woods, if Link destroys the boulder next to the Sacred Forest Meadow entrance with a bomb, he can enter a hidden cave containing a Business Scrub and a Deku Scrub. The Business Scrub will sell Link the upgrade for 40 Rupees.
Majora's Mask
Deku Nuts function mostly identically to their appearance in Ocarina of Time - however, Link cannot upgrade his Deku Nut capacity in this game. Deku Link has the ability to drop Deku Nuts after being launched from a Deku Flower.
