The Gemesaur King is the boss of the Dark Palace in A Link Between Worlds.

A Link Between Worlds

The Gemesaur King is an armored reptile that wears a protective mask, with a body covered in variously colored crystals that drop rupees when destroyed, and with a spiked tail from which it can shoot crystal shards.

Battle

To make the Gemesaur King appear in the room, Link must light the braziers in the northwest and southeast corners. Once the battle begins, it slowly stalks Link, and at an opportune moment shoots three crystal shards out of its tail in his direction. Link must throw and detonate bombs at its mask until it shatters, along with its gem-encrusted armor. Once he has done so, a red organ is revealed to be in its head, which is its weak point. In the next phase, it moves faster than before and delivers lunging bites at Link when he is close to its face, as well as shoots five crystal shards out of its tail instead of three. After hitting its weak point a number of times, it blows out all the lights in the room, turning the room dark. This allows it to change to its nocturnal form, which is even more dangerous and faster than before, with glowing eyes that can see in the dark. During this phase, Link must light the two braziers in the room to revert it to its previous form. While doing so, he can merge into the walls to avoid its quick onslaughts. Then, once Link has hit its weak point enough times, the Gemesaur King is defeated.
