Wooden Sword
The Wooden Sword is the first Sword Link obtains in four games of The Legend of Zelda Series. Because of that, it is also the weakest sword in these games. It has appeared in the The Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and Twilight Princess.
Appearances
The Legend of Zelda
The Wooden Sword is the first item available for Link to collect. While it is optional, not picking it up will make the game considerably more challenging. The Wooden Sword can be found on the Starting Screen, where there is a small cave on the northern rock. Inside, the Old Man will say the legendary line, "IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS".[1] He will then give Link the Wooden Sword. The Wooden Sword is by fair the weakest sword in the game. An example of this is the fact that it takes eigh thits to kill Aquamentus with the Wooden Sword, but only two with the Magical Sword. Later on in the game, it can be replaced by the White Sword and/or the Magical Sword.
Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages
Link obtains the same swords between the two Oracle games, albeit in different ways. The Wooden Sword is his first blade and is acquired at the beginning of the game.
In Oracle of Seasons, Link is told to travel west of Horon Village to the Hero's Cave to prove his courage. It is inside this cave that he must make his way through various rooms and puzzles before finding the Wooden Sword.
In Oracle of Ages, on the other hand, Link is given the Wooden Sword by Impa. Shortly after Nayru is captured, Impa will wake up and thank Link for helping her. She will then tell him that since he bears the mark of a hero, he must be the one destined to save the Oracle. She confides in him that Zelda entrusted her with the blade of a hero, and will give Link the Wooden Sword.
Twilight Princess
The Wooden Sword is again the first sword Link receives in Twilight Princess. Link obtains the Wooden Sword from Rusl who repaired it and returned it to Link. Using this sword the player can practice all of the basic sword fighting skills on the training dummy just outside Link's House. This sword will remain in Link's inventory until after he rescues Talo, who will then ask Link to let him borrow it. After the Twilight has covered the Eldin Province, Wolf Link discovers the broken remains of the Wooden Sword on the ground. It is from these remains he picks up the Youths' Scent. This scent is used to track down the kidnapped children.
Trivia
