Sea Urchins are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.
Link's Awakening
Being washed up on the shores of Koholint Island, Sea Urchins are only found along the beaches in the southwest corner of the island and are extremely easy enemies to avoid. They lie stationary on the ground and the only way Link can take damage from one is if he walks into it.[1] They are also very weak, and will die with one slash of Link's sword. To get past an Urchin, Link can either push it away with his shield or simply defeat it with his sword.[2][3]
Four Swords Adventures
Like in Link's Awakening, Sea Urchins are only found along the beaches of The Coast in the Eastern Hyrule level. However, Sea Urchins cannot be pushed by the four Links or be destroyed with any of their items. As a result, the Links have to avoid the enemy. When they come across a bunch of River Zora in the stage, many Sea Urchins block the Links access to the rest of The Coast, so they must defeat all of the River Zora in the area in order for the Sea Urchins to disappear. Shortly after, the Links can find more Sea Urchins who disappear once they have defeated the many Sand Crabs in the area.
Later in the stage, the Links can find two Sea Urchins blocking their path. Unlike last time, they need to defeat all of the purple Octoroks in the area to reveal four switches. Once the Links step on to the switches, the Sea Urchins disappear. When they see Shadow Link for the last time in The Coast, Sea Urchins make their final appearance by blocking the way the Links came from, so they must proceed through the rest of the stage.
Echoes of Wisdom
"An unmoving aquatic monster with hard spines that can pierce metal."
Sea Urchins are one of the first enemies that appear, located on the Suthorn Beach. Some can be found in the water itself, while others are blocking the entrance to the Beach Cave. They can be defeated with echoes such as the Rock Echo, which will allow Zelda to obtain the Sea Urchin Echo.
