Ice Keese are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series. They are a variant of Keese that is encased in ice, which freezes Link upon contact.
Ocarina of Time
Ice Keese |
Ice Keese in Ocarina of Time inhabit the Ice Cavern. They behave very much like the Fire Keese, flying around until they see Link, in which they will fly down to try to freeze him. When they come into contact with Link, they will freeze him momentarily, potentially doing up to two hearts of damage if he does not escape fast enough.
Given their icy nature, it is best to defeat Ice Keese with projectiles, including the Hookshot or Bow and Arrow. If there are multiple Keese attacking Link at once, Din's Fire will also work well.
Majora's Mask
You know about the Ice Keese, |
Ice Keeses behave the same as they do in Ocarina of Time, however, if they touch Link, they will become normal Keeses.
Twilight Princess
Once again, Ice Keese are found in frozen areas, such as Snowpeak and its ruins. There are also some found on floors 21, 35, and 38 of the Cave of Ordeals.
Phantom Hourglass
In Phantom Hourglass, Ice Keese are found exclusively in the Temple of Ice. They can be defeated with any projectile or explosive weapon, including the Boomerang, Bow and Arrow, or Bombs.
Spirit Tracks
Ice Keese are found in the Snow Temple and other locations in the Snow Realm. Ice Keese behave in the same way as regular Keese, but if there is a frozen torch in the area, a Keese may run into it and become an Ice Keese. Touching one will result in Link being frozen, so a long-range weapon is recommended when fighting these enemies.

Breath of the Wild
These Keese appear exclusively in the colder regions of Hyrule, including the Hebra Mountains, Gerudo Highlands, as well as the areas around Mount Hylia, Mount Lanayru, and the peaks of the Crenel Hills. They have 1 HP like all other Keese that appear in the game. If Link comes into contact with one, he will freeze up for a short period of time. They drop Ice Keese Wings and Keese Eyeballs. Ice Wizzrobes and Blizzrobes are able to summon one during combat.
As other ice enemies in the game, Ice Keese will sublimate into thin air when struck with fire weapons. Also, unlike normal Keese and much like other elemental Keese, they do not flock.
Age of Calamity
Ice Keese in Age of Calamity appear in similar fashion as their Breath of the Wild counterparts. They are weak enemies and will be defeated with just a single attack. They will occasionally charge an ice attack, which can freeze the warrior on contact. Upon being defeated, they may drop an Ice Keese Wing or a Keese Eyeball. After each Ice Keese is defeated, the player will receive a Keese Trophy, which can be used to complete quests or upgrade weapons of the various warriors.

"The intense frost that engulfs the bodies of these bat-like Keese makes them more dangerous than the standard type. They're capable of freezing anything they touch."
