Dayto is a character from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Breath of the Wild
Dayto is a traveler who can be along the path near the Foothill Stable. He wields a Traveler's Sword and Hunter's Shield. He walks from the Foothill Stable northward, through the Maw of Death Mountain. He stops near a broken down wagon, glancing out in the direction where a Guardian Stalker can be found. After looking for a while, he will turn back around, heading towards the stable. Despite carrying a sword and shield, Dayto will avoid all battles with any enemies that appear.[1] In particular if a Guardian appears, where he will then run for his life.[2] If Link fights off any enemies that are nearby, Dayto will thank him, rewarding him with a meal or some rupees.[3][4][5]
Dayto is constantly questioning himself, wondering what he should do next. He considers some inconsequential decisions as some of his next big life decisions, where he is not sure what to do. These are sometimes rudimentary decisions, such as which direction he should head, should he walk or ride or a horse, or if he should stop and take a nap.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]
Tears of the Kingdom
Dayto works behind the counter at YunoboCo HQ. He is happy to see Link due to their current shortage of staff.[19][20] He complains that all the young staff are so busy eating Marbled Rock Roast that they won't work. He is hopeful that President Yunobo will address the situation. He mentions that Yunobo is at the YunoboCo Storage, making a deal for some more marbled rock roast.[21]
Dayto will explain more to Link about how President Yunobo is, saying that he is an entrepreneurial genius who founded YunoboCo. He started a small mining business to help Goron City's development, but made it big when he found the marbled rock roast. Ever since, YunoboCo has become a leading name in mineral mining.[22] He admits that President Yunobo has been acting a little off since the roast first appeared but doesn't mind, since he has accomplished quite a lot.[23] He will also explain what Marbled rock roast is, saying it is the most popular edible rock and all the young Gorons are into it. The roast can only be found in really tough bedrock, which makes President Yunobo the only one who can mine it. This makes the roast rather scarce. [24]
Dayto will offer to sell Link fire-resistant gear, as Link will get burnt to a crisp due to the lava inside the caves. He will also buy items from Link if does not have the rupees necessary to purchase the armor.[25]
