Verla is a character in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Breath of the Wild
Verla is a member of the Rito tribe and can be found on one of the lower elevations near the entrance to Rito Village. He works as a greeter, standing right outside of the Swallow's Roost, encouraging people to stop by and snooze their troubles away.[1] He mentions Divine Beast Vah Medoh up above, who has been terrorizing the village constantly since he appeared. Although he encourages Link to speak with elder to find out more about Vah Medoh.[2] If Link wants to stay at the inn, he encourages Link to head on in and speak with Cecili, the innkeeper.[3]
Verla will take a break at 6am each morning and 6pm each evening, where he will head up a few steps to speak with his friend and fellow greeter, Huck.[4] The two will talk about Vah Medoh, where Link will learn that a long time ago, the Divine Beast use to be on their side.[5][6] They speak about the Champion, Revali, who tamed the beast and used it to protect the village.[7] Verla will also comment about how Revali was quite the marksman, with his arrows always finding their mark.[8]
Verla is upset with Vah Medoh, not only for what it is doing to the village, but also because it is causing business to be slow at the inn, which is hurting Verla's commissions.[9] What they don't understand is that why it suddenly started to attack.[10]
Verla and Huck will occasionally get at odds with each other. Verla accuses Huck of simply repeating whatever the elder states.[11][12][13] Verla will stay and talk with Huck until 12pm, and then 12am, before returning to work in front of Swallow's Roost.[14] So all in all, he works 12-hours a day, and spends 12-hours a day talking with Huck.
Tears of the Kingdom
Verla can be found standing outside of the Talonto Peak Cave, where he has traveled to find some Chillshrooms. However, Verla has since hurt his wing, preventing him from flying. Inside the Talonto Peak Cave, there is some cold water that will deal damage if he falls in. Without his wings in good shape, he cannot cross the pond and get the chillshrooms.[15] Verla warns Link that there is cold water in the cave, as well as other caves in the area.[16]
Crossing the Cold Pool

Speaking with Verla will begin the Crossing the Cold Pool. Link will need to acquire 10 Chillshrooms to give to Verla. Verla not only came to scavange food, but he also talked a bit game to some of the other villagers at Rito Village and wants to be able to return to the village with his head held high.[17] While Link doesn't actually need to enter the cave and instead, if he has already collected the 10 Chillshrooms, he can just give them to Verla. However, if Link does cross the pool, there are over a dozen Chillshrooms for Link to find.[18]
As a thanks for giving Verla the 10 Chillshrooms, he will reward Link with a Purple Rupee.[19][20] This will complete the Crossing the Cold Pool quest.
After the Blizzard
After the Blizzard has subsided and Link has completed the Crossing the Cold Pool quest, Verla will return to Rito Village. He will once again thank Link for bringing him the chillshrooms at the cave. Now that his wing has healed, he can fly around and is patrolling Rito Village. He is working alongside Notts to patrol the area and se if there is any lasting damage from all the snow that was piled up.[21] Every few hours Verla can be seen flying around, landing at a different location at Rito Village. Him and Notts haven't seen too much damage, but he's not quite ready to give the all clear.[22]

- ↑ "What a disaster. I came all this way to scrounge mushrooms, and now this. I'll never get to deep parts of the cave with a messed-up wing. Chillshrooms grow all over this cave, so I figured it'd be a prime spot for scavenging a little food. But cold water has built up in here now, and I pick any chillshrooms without crossing it. Ordinarily, my wings would take me right over a little pond like this. But I hurt my wing in a small scrap with monsters. I don't see how I can fly over the pond in this condition. The worst part is, I was just bragging to the folks in the village that I'd bring back even more chillshrooms than last time.
