"This skeletal horse is ridden by monsters. It was once a regular horse, but Ganon's power revived it from death. It cannot maintain its bone structure in the daytime."
A Stalhorse is a skeletal Horse found in Breath of the Wild.
Breath of the Wild
They can be most commonly found in the North Tabantha Snowfield at nighttime, though they can also appear in certain other areas, such as in the Faron Grasslands.
If Link tries to register it at a Stable, they will inform him that it might eat the other horses.[1]
Stalhorses are actually docile creatures, and since they are ridden by Stalkoblins, they don't have to be soothed to ride, and are fully tamed. Stalhorses, just like regular horses, do not drop any loot or parts when killed, though unlike those, they don't leave a body behind. They come invariably with 3 spurs of stamina and have 100hp of strength.
Quests
- The Stalhorse is involved in a side-quest at the Snowfield Stable, Stalhorse: Pictured!
- As part of the quest Good-Sized Horse, the Stalhorse cannot be sold to Zyle, as he refuses to buy it since it's too scary and he wants a normal horse.
Trivia
- Stalhorses can consume apples and carrots, even though they require no bonding and have no digestive tracts to speak of.
- They're the only non-cursed Stal creatures in the game that don't drop loot.
- They are the lesser supernatural creatures in the game that Link can ride, with the Lord of the Mountain being the greater.
- They are the only horse-like creatures found in the Great Plateau, but only as part as the DLC-exclusive Obliterator Trial.
- Stalhorses are also found in the DLC-exclusive Trial of the Sword, being ridden by Stalkoblins as part of Floor 4 of the Final Trials.
Tears of the Kingdom
They are commonly found near the Sanidin Park Ruins at night and in the depths.
