The Green Tunic is the name of Link's starting outfit in Link's Awakening and A Link Between Worlds.
Link's Awakening
Only named in the Switch version, the Green Tunic is the clothing that Link washed ashore in on Koholint Island.[1] It is later replaced by the Blue Mail or the Red Mail in the DX and Switch version.
A Link Between Worlds
In A Link Between Worlds, the Green Tunic was made for Link by the Blacksmith's wife.[2] When Link is first awakened by Gulley, he is already wearing these clothes. Link is later able to upgrade his tunic by acquiring the Blue Mail and the Red Mail, which give him better defense.
Trivia
- According to The Legend of Zelda: Encyclopedia, the idea for the "Bear Minimum Digs" outfit stemmed from it being the undershirt and tights of his Green Tunic from A Link Between Worlds.[3]
