"The Master Sword is a sacred blade which evil ones may never touch.... Only one worthy of the title of "Hero of Time" can pull it from the Pedestal of Time...."

Rauru

The Master Sword, also known as the Blade of Evil's Bane and the Sword that Seals the Darkness, is a recurring Sword in The Legend of Zelda series. It is one of the most iconic items of the series, along with Link himself. In many games, it is said to be the only sword capable of defeating Ganon. This legendary blade is blessed with the power to vanquish beings of evil and is often found in the Pedestal of Time. It has become one of the most iconic symbols of The Legend of Zelda series, often appearing in other video games.

History

The Master Sword was forged from the Goddess Sword, a blade originally wielded by the Goddess, Hylia. During the events of Skyward Sword, Link is revealed as Hylia's chosen hero and removes the blade from its pedestal on the floating island of Skyloft.

The sword is tied with a guardian entity known as Fi, a being created by Hylia to guide the chosen hero. Fi helps Link in the forging of the Master Sword. This is done by imbuing the blade with three Sacred Flames which represent Din, Nayru and Farore respectively.

Each sacred flame increases the properties of the sword as well as the shape and structure. Farore's Flame forges the Goddess Sword into the Goddess Longsword, a longer and sharper blade that does double damage. Nayru's Flame makes the Goddess Longsword into the Goddess White Sword, making the color of the hilt white and enhancing dowsing abilities. Din's Flame changes the Goddess White Sword into the Master Sword. The hilt turns purple and green and the blade does three times the damage. However, the wings on the side of the hilt are not extended, and the yellow gem in the middle is not glowing. These are indicators that the sword is not yet in its true form.

The Goddess Hylia blesses the blade and turns it into the True Master Sword. Skyward Strikes now charge much faster.

Design

The Master Sword is a double-edged longsword with no fuller and blue hilt, although in the artwork for A Link to the Past, the hilt of the sword is golden. The sword's cross-guard is large and elaborate in relation to its pommel, and is similar to the seal of Hyrule's Royal Family. The Triforce is engraved on the base of the blade, and embedded in the cross-guard is a gem.

In The Wind Waker, the state of the gem in cross-guard seems to be indicative of the sword's power. When Link first acquires the un-awakened Master Sword, the gem in its cross-guard is dark, and the guard itself seems to have retracted toward the grip. Only once the sword has been restored to its full power does its hilt regain its signature appearance, and its blade again shines a mysterious light. In Twilight Princess, the Master Sword is much longer and slimmer.

Appearances

A Link to the Past

The Master Sword as seen in A Link to the Past

In A Link to the Past, the Master Sword is obtained by collecting the three Pendants of Virtue from the three temples in the Light World across Hyrule. Once Link has them, he finds the Master Sword in the Lost Woods. In this game, the Master Sword can be upgraded to the Tempered Sword and the Golden Sword. In the GBA version, the Golden Sword can break pots. The Master sword is a long double edge blade.

Ocarina of Time

The Master Sword as seen in Ocarina of Time 3D

In Ocarina of Time, Link obtains the Master Sword in the Temple of Time from the Pedestal of Time. Link needs to place the three Spiritual Stones on the temple's altar, which can be found in the three dungeons from the Child Timeline across Hyrule. Sheik describes the blade as a ship that sails across time; obviously referencing the ability of it to take Link back and forth between childhood and adulthood. After defeating Ganon, Link places the Master Sword back into its pedestal. This creates a split in the timeline.

The Master Sword is obtained after completing the Realm of Memories. It allows Link to shoot Sword Beams.

The Wind Waker

The Master Sword in its weakened state in The Wind Waker

In The Wind Waker, Link finds the Master Sword underneath the Great Sea within Hyrule Castle in the drowned land of Hyrule. After his first face-to-face encounter with Ganondorf, he is told that the Master Sword has lost its power. To restore the Master Sword to its former glory, Link must awaken the new Sages of earth and wind.

The Master Sword powered with the prayers of the Sage of Earth

After awakening Medli as the new Earth Sage, Link takes her to the Earth Temple. Upon defeating Jalhalla, Link and Medli play the Earth God's Lyric and restore power partially to the Master Sword.

The Master Sword returns!

After awakening Makar as the new Wind Sage, Link then travels with him to the Wind Temple. Upon defeating Molgera, Link and Makar play the Wind God's Aria. With the prayers of both Sages, the Master Sword returns to its true state.

Twilight Princess

Link removing the Master Sword from its pedestal in Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, Link obtains the Master Sword after getting cursed by Zant, causing Link to remain permanently as a wolf. The Master Sword is the only thing that can break the curse and it lies in a place called the Sacred Grove.

Later in the game, upon entering the Palace of Twilight, Link infuses the Master Sword with light. This light comes from the light sources of the Twilight Realm known as Sols. Once infused with light, the Master Sword can cut through veils of twilight which normally would transform Link into a wolf upon exposure. The light vanishes from the sword upon leaving the Twilight Realm, but returns to the sword upon re-entry.

Skyward Sword

Upon exposure to Din's flame, the Goddess White Sword becomes the Master Sword in Skyward Sword

Skyward Sword explains the creation of the Master Sword. It was originally known as the Goddess Sword wielded by the Goddess, Hylia. The blade was exposed to three Sacred FlamesFarore's Flame, Nayru's Flame and Din's Flame—and then blessed by the Goddess in the form of Zelda, turning it into the True Master Sword. In comparison to the Goddess Longsword, it deals twice the damage. Each slash can deal 16 points of damage. The Spin Slash deals 24 points of damage and the Skyward Strike deals 8 points of damage.

The Master Sword in its true state after being blessed by Hylia.

In this game, the Master Sword also has the ability to shoot beams of light and can search for people or items. This is likely due to the presence of Fi, the spirit inside the sword. After completing the game, the player can replay it in Hero Mode, which makes the Goddess Sword and subsequently the Master Sword's Skyward Strikes much quicker from the very beginning.

A Link Between Worlds

Link obtaining the Master Sword from the Lost Woods in A Link Between Worlds

The Master Sword makes an appearance in A Link Between Worlds, and is found in the same location as A Link to the Past. It can be found in the Lost Woods and cannot be obtained until after Link has collected the Pendants of Virtue and finds his way through the woods. It is needed to break the barrier around Hyrule Castle.

The Master Sword replaces the Forgotten Sword and features enhanced strength over his previous sword, and like its prequel, a sword beam can be shot out of the Master Sword whenever Link has full health. It can be upgraded to deal more damage if Link acquires two Master Ores and gives them to the Blacksmith in Hyrule, and he can further upgrade the Master Sword if he takes two more Master Ores to the Blacksmith in Lorule. When upgraded, the Master Sword Lv2 has a red blade while the Master Sword Lv3 has a golden blade, much like the Tempered Sword and the Golden Sword respectively in A Link to the Past.

Breath of the Wild

Spoiler Alert! This section describes a subject that is sensitive to plot development.
File:Master-sword.png

In Breath of the Wild, the Master Sword can be found in its pedestal in the Korok Forest, guarded by the Great Deku Tree. The Great Deku Tree reveals to Link that if a person deemed to be weak attempts to draw the Master Sword from its pedestal, they will slowly lose their life. This means that Link must be powerful enough to draw the blade from its slumber and, unlike any previous incarnation, he requires at least thirteen hearts to successfully retrieve the sword (These hearts must be permanent heart containers: using consumables that temporarily increase your maximum hearts will not allow you to obtain the Master Sword). Upon taking the sword, Link will obtain a memory of the sword being placed in the pedestal; however, this memory is not actually Link's, rather, it is Princess Zelda's. Zelda placed the sword in its resting place after Link's near-death, where the hero would come to retrieve it once more after his slumber in the Shrine of Resurrection.

The Master Sword has a base strength of 30 damage, initially leaving it outclassed by a multitude of other single-handed weapons. Its true power, however, comes in the presence of evil when Link ventures to certain areas or draws near certain enemies. This includes all guardian variations and the entirety of Hyrule Castle, as well as the four Divine Beasts, where Ganon's presence is most powerful. The blade will glow with a blue aura, and its strength will boost to 60 damage, making it the most powerful single-handed weapon in the game.

Like all other weapons in Breath of the Wild, it can be rendered unusable after extensive use. However, it is special in that the Sword will never break, or disappear from the inventory after obtaining it. After the Sword loses its power from extensive use, it will auto-repair itself gradually and return to normal after some time. When the Master Sword is engulfed in its true power, it will gain a huge durability boost.

The Master Sword plays a prominent role in Link's memories, and is once again indicated to only be usable by the chosen hero. During Link's final memory, and Zelda's memory when the Sword is retrieved, it is shown to be in a severely damaged and rusted condition, something that has not been seen in any previous Zelda game. After being placed into its resting spot by Princess Zelda, the Sword gradually regained its luster and restored itself to its most powerful state.

After Link's death during his final memory, the sword begins to flash blue and emit a sound that is the same as Fi's in Skyward Sword, indicating that she is still present within the blade. Fi speaks to Princess Zelda, and tells her that Link can still be saved by taking him to the Shrine of Resurrection, where he can fully recover to fight Calamity Ganon once more.

Non-Canon Appearances

Soul Calibur II

In the fighting game Soul Calibur II, the Master Sword is Link's default weapon. Link starts with this weapon, along with the Hylian Shield, and it is the most well balanced of all his weapons. The Master Sword is also used when combined with the Mirror Shield.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Master Sword can be obtained from fortune cookies in Animal Crossing: New Leaf as it appears in Skyward Sword. It is a furniture item that can be displayed in one's house. It is in its pedestal when placed in a house.

Hyrule Warriors

The Torch is a tool found in Breath of the Wild. It has the ability to carry flames across distances without extinguishing. Torches can be used to burn grass, bushes, or wood to start a Campfire. Although it is classified as a weapon, it only has a power of 2 and has low durability.

When Link first exits the Shrine of Resurrection and meets the Old Man, he can steal the Torch that is nearby. The Old Man will ask Link how he plans on using it.[2] If Link plans to use it as a weapon, the Old Man advises against it, and tells Link to use the Axe instead.[3] Alternatively, Link say that he is using the Torch to set things on fire, and the Old Man warns Link to be cautious, as it can burn the dry grass.[4] Link can also say that his usage of the Torch is a secret, and the Old Man will let him do as he pleases.[5]

Link will need to use the Torch, or another burnable weapon, to carry the flame and light the standing torches leading up to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab and the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. In these cases, Link will light the torch with Blue Fire, lighting the individual standing torches on the way.

When Link travels through the Lost Woods, he will need to use a Torch while navigating through the maze. When standing still, the flames of the torch will travel in the direction that Link must go in order to progress deeper into the Lost Woods.

The Boomerang is an iconic item in The Legend of Zelda series, appearing in almost every title in some shape or form. It works by returning to Link after he has thrown it every time, making it very versatile. It can be used in many different ways, such as picking up items, or stun and even defeat enemies, or to hit distant switches, and much more.

Appearances

The Legend of Zelda

The Boomerang makes its debut in The Legend of Zelda. Link can use it by assigning it to the B Slot and pressing that button to throw it. It can damage smaller enemies,[6] such as Keese, and stun all other enemies,[7] like Goriyas. After being thrown, it only travels half the screen, making it very inconvenient. It is found in the first dungeon of the game, The Eagle. Later on in the game, Link gets an upgrade to the Boomerang, entitled the Magical Boomerang. This upgrade is found in the second dungeon, The Moon. It travels much further than the original Boomerang,[8] making it a much better weapon in combat.

A Link to the Past

"Boomerang
The Boomerang has weak destructive power, but it has the ability to stun most enemies for a short period of time. The Boomerang is the item of choice when walking about Hyrule because you can use it to quickly retrieve items such as Hearts, Rupees, Arrows and Bombs.
"

"Link can't throw the Blue Boomerang too far, but he'll be able to retrieve items within a short distance."

— Nintendo Power Player's Guide

"Blue Boomerang
Link will pick up the Blue Boomerang in Hyrule Castle.
"

— Nintendo Power Player's Guide
Boomerang-Sprite.png

In A Link to the Past, the Boomerang can be found in Hyrule Castle. It does the same thing it did in The Legend of Zelda: paralyze enemies and bring items from afar. It also has an upgrade, a red version, which can make the rounds launched by pressing the D-Pad. In the GBA version, the Boomerang can do things that it previously did not like mowing the lawn when released, etc.

Link's Awakening

LA Boomerang Sprite.png

In Link's Awakening, the Boomerang appears as the final item in the Trading Sequence. It is given to Link by the Secret Goriya at Toronbo Shores in exchange for the item on his B button.[9][10] However, he cannot accept certain items, such as the sword or shield.[11] If Link returns to the Goriya after trading for the Boomerang, he begs to have it back and offers Link's old item.[12]

With the Boomerang, Link can easily defeat several enemies that previously were much more difficult, such as DethI, the final form of The Shadow Nightmares, who can be defeated with one shot from the Boomerang.

Ocarina of Time

The Boomerang in Ocarina of Time is very similar to Boomerangs from previous titles, except it is in 3D. It can stun enemies, grab stuff, etc. It can be found Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, the third Dungeon of the game. It is one of the many items Link loses the ability to use while in the future. The Hookshot replaces the Boomerang while Link is an adult, though it is much more useful, and much easier to control.

Oracle of Seasons

The Boomerang can be obtained from the Subrosian Dance Hall in Subrosia after dancing with its inhabitants the correct pattern. Its uses are similar to Ocarina of Time's.

Oracle of Ages

In Oracle of Ages, the Boomerang is obtained from the Goron Shooting Gallery in Rolling Ridge. Link must earn at least 400 points in the mini-game, at which point the owner gives Link the Boomerang.[13] It is not required to complete the game.

Four Swords

Four Sword Adventures

The Wind Waker

The Boomerang in The Wind Waker is the first one to be able to lock on to multiple targets at once; five to be exact. It is found in the Forbidden Woods. It can be obtained after defeating the mini-boss Mothula.

The Minish Cap

Boomerangmc.png

There are two Boomerangs in this game. The regular Boomerang works like in previous Zelda games and can be bought in Castle Town for 300 Rupees. The Magical Boomerang can be obtained after Tingle's sidequest and fusing Kinstones. It can be controlled with the D-Pad. It will be found in North Hyrule Field.

Twilight Princess

GaleBoomerang.png
Main article: Gale Boomerang

In Twilight Princess, Link gets the Boomerang, which is called the Gale Boomerang, in the first dungeon, the Forest Temple. The Gale Boomerang is different from the ones found in other games in that it gives the user the Power of Winds. After Link defeats the Mini-Boss of the Forest Temple, the possessed baboon leader Ook, he receives the Boomerang and gains the ability to make a hurricane of wind. The player can throw the Boomerang up to five times in various directions.

Phantom Hourglass

PH-Boomerang.png

In Phantom Hourglass, Link receives the Boomerang in the first temple, the Temple of Fire. Instead of just launching the Boomerang as in previous Zelda titles, Link must draw a line on the screen of the Nintendo DS. The Boomerang will follow the same route of the line. If a torch is out and is next to a lighted torch, Link can route the torch lit and then extinguished the torch and it will cause the Boomerang catch fire and ignite the torch. This is one of several features that Boomerang can do in this game.

Spirit Tracks

In Spirit Tracks, Link wins the Boomerang in the second temple, Snow Temple. To control the Boomerang, he can do the same thing as in Phantom Hourglass; draw a line on the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS, and it will follow the same route.

Often there are enemies that cannot be hit from the front, so Link must draw a path with the boomerang and hit the enemy on its backside in order to stun it. While some enemies can be defeated with one hit of the boomerang, many others will only be stunned. This will, however, give Link an opportunity to finish them off with his sword. The boomerang is also capable of equipping fire and ice along its way. If Link targets a lit torch and then an enemy, the boomerang will carry the fire and can burn the enemy that Link targets. Link can use the boomerang on ice torches and then send it over water, which will cause the water to freeze and ice platforms to appear that Link can walk over.

The boomerang is very commonly used to hit switches or other objects in order to solve puzzles. At times Link might need to hit several objects consecutively in a certain order to solve a puzzle and open a closed door, or to access a treasure chest. Other times Link must hit a distant object in order to create a bridge, or to lower or raise a platform to allow him to access new areas.

Hyrule Warriors

In Hyrule Warriors, the Boomerang is a sub-weapon that can be unlocked in The Sorceress of the Valley scenario from Legend Mode. The Boomerang functions like it does in other Zelda games, stunning enemies and being a key weapon against Manhandla. If Link picks up a power-up for the Boomerang, it becomes the Gale Boomerang, sending out tornados that stun multiple enemies.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, the Boomerang is a rentable, and later purchasable item that can be found at any point in Ravio's Shop after completing the Eastern Palace. It can be used to stun enemies, cut grass, grab items, and flip switches, similarly to most other Zelda games. After purchasing it for 800 Rupees, it can be upgraded by Mother Maiamai by collecting ten baby Maiamai. This turns it into the Nice Boomerang, which functions the same, but with increased speed, and a triple throw.

Tri Force Heroes

The Boomerang appears as an available item in many stages, beginning with the first section of the Volcano, the Blazing Trail. Like in past games, it can be used to stun or defeat enemies, hit switches, and retrieve distant items, including other Links. The boomerang can also be used to transfer fire between torches, similarly to its use in Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. It can be upgraded by wearing the Boomeranger costume, which grants it increased range, size, and damage output, as well as the ability to carry two items at once.

Breath of the Wild

The Boomerang makes a return in Breath of the Wild, but this time in many forms, including the standard Boomerang, Giant Boomerang, Lizal Boomerang, and more. This weapon can be used as a sword, through means of melee attacks, but can also be thrown like a traditional boomerang. If it hits a solid object, it will lose all momentum and drop to the ground. In order to retrieve a boomerang after it has been thrown, the player must hit the A button as it nears Link. In the case of this not happening, it will keep going for a small distance and drop to the ground, where it can be picked up. The standard Boomerang can be found in the Pumaag Nitae Shrine.

"This once-fearsome sword has seen better days. It can do some damage in the right hands but also breaks quickly."

— In-Game Description

The Rusty Broadsword is a melee weapon found in Breath of the Wild. It has a base power of 6, and can be found in lone locations around the majority of Hyrule. It appears to have once been a Knight's Broadsword, but has experienced severe damage, as the majority of the blade is rusted.

These items are found laying around fairly abundantly in early parts of the game. One can be found on top of a small island in the pond, just outside the Shrine of Resurrection on the way to the Temple of Time. They are often found in the various ruins of Hyrule.

With a durability of just 8, it is the most fragile of swords that Link can acquire, with it breaking just as quickly as a Torch or Boko Club. With an attack power of 6, it is more powerful than the Traveler's Sword and makes for an okay weapon during the early portions of the game, but it quickly becomes obsolete as Link acquires more powerful weaponry.

Like all the of the other Rusty weapons that Link can acquire, he can toss it in front of a Rock Octorok. When the Rock Octorok inhales the sword, he will chew it up and spit it out back towards Link. This will upgrade the weapon and it can be spit out as a Traveler's Sword, Soldier's Broadsword, Knight's Broadsword, or even a Royal Broadsword.

Boko Clubs are very common weapons found on the Great Plateau, often near Bokoblin camps. They are fairly weak weapons and only should be used early on in Link's journey. Boko Clubs can be set on fire, making them usable as a torch.

"A reinforced Bokoblin club made to maximize damage. The sharpened bones jabbed into make it a brutal weapon."

— In-Game Description[20]

The Spiked Boko Club is a wooden club found in Breath of the Wild. It has a base power of 12, and is an uncommon weapon of choice for Bokoblins in areas just outside the Great Plateau. It looks identical to a traditional Boko Club, but sharp bones have been affixed to increase the damage output.

The weapon is most commonly wielded by Blue Bokoblins in areas that are adjacent to the Great Plateau, including within the Gerudo Canyon Pass and in the Gerudo Desert. However, the weapon can occasionally be seen being used by Lizalfos in the Lake and Faron regions, as well as within the Lanayru Wetlands.

With a weapon strength of 12, it is three times as powerful as its Boko Club counterpart, although only half as powerful as the Dragonbone Boko Club. Given its power and durability, it makes for a decent weapon early on in Link's quest, but quickly becomes obsolete as Link acquires more powerful and more durable weapons.

As the weapon is made of wood, it can be lit on fire and used as a torch.

"This Bokoblin club has been reinforced with fossilized bones to maximize clobbering potential. Only the brawniest of Bokoblins can manage its immense weight."

— In-Game Description[21]

The Dragonbone Boko Club is a wooden club found in Breath of the Wild. It appears to be fashioned from a regular Boko Club, with a large bone attached to it, to increase its power. With a base power of 24, it is considerably stronger than the Boko Club, and it is double the strength of the Spiked Boko Club.

The weapon can most commonly be found being used by Black Bokoblins. They are often found on the outskirts of the map, featured heavily in the Hebra, Akkala, and Gerudo Highlands regions. The Black Bokoblins that wield these clubs will often also wield the Dragonbone Boko Shield. The weapon can also be found being worn by the Middle Kin Hinox, found in the Uten Marsh.

The Fire Rod is an item that appears in A Link to the Past, Four Swords Adventures, and A Link Between Worlds.

Appearances

A Link to the Past

The Fire Rod is obtained in a Treasure Chest in the Skull Woods.[22] This rod spits out a ball of fire that sears most enemies to a crisp.[23] Some enemies like Gibdos are especially vulnerable to fire, so use the Fire Rod wisely.[24] The Fire Rod can also be used like the Lamp to light torches, but from a distance only. It is needed to enter the main part of the Skull Woods dungeon.[25] This item is also used for defeating Trinexx in Turtle Rock.

Four Swords Adventures

The Fire Rod in Four Swords Adventures functions in a similar fashion to its other incarnations. If the item button is held down, the Fire Rod acts as a flamethrower, shooting a continuous stream of fire. Once upgraded to level two at a Fairy Fountain, the Fire Rod gains the powers of the Cane of Somaria, as seen in A Link to the Past, creating blocks that can be used to depress switches. The upgraded Fire Rod can also create platforms in specific locations marked by a question mark. Shadow Link even uses the weapon against Link in certain encounters.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, Link can rent the Fire Rod for 100 Rupees along with other items after Ravio's Shop opens. However, once Ravio lets him purchase items, the Fire Rod costs 1,200 Rupees to purchase it. Once Link has bought it, he can upgrade it to the Nice Fire Rod after finding ten lost Maiamais and giving them to Mother Maiamai.

Unlike previous Zelda games, when Link uses the Fire Rod, it unleashes a pillar of flame that travels across the ground and disappears shortly afterwards, depleting the Energy Gauge. As a result of traveling across the ground, if Link uses the Fire Rod on top of grates, the fireball will go through the grate and be on the lower floors of the dungeon. Being used to defeat ice-based enemies such as Ice Gimos and Ice Bubbles, the Fire Rod is also used in order to melt ice such as the ice layer surrounding Dharkstare and ice stalagmites. Like the Lamp, it can light torches, but Link can light them at a farther distance than the Lamp. Similarly to the Skull Woods in A Link to the Past, the Fire Rod is needed in order to enter the Ice Ruins in Lorule.

Breath of the Wild

The Fire Rod in Breath of the Wild can be found on Fire Wizzrobes all over Hyrule. It is a very dangerous weapon, as it can shoot rather large fireballs which can light objects on fire, such as grass or leaves. It can be used as an offensive tool, or one for solving puzzles, such as in the Sah Dahaj Shrine. It has a base power of 5.

"Ice Rod
After Sahasrahla gives Link the Pegasus Shoes, he tells him to get a strange and mystical weapon called the Ice Rod which is located to the east of Lake Hylia. Link must travel south of the lake and then up and around to the lake's northeast corner. Link will be able to see a cave entrance, but just to the left of that entrance is a pile of loose rocks. Bomb through the rocks to reveal another entrance.

— Nintendo Power Player's Guide

— Nintendo Power Player's Guide

"Once frozen, Link can pick up an enemy and throw it to destroy it."

— Nintendo Power Player's Guide

The Ice Rod is a weapon that appears exclusively in A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds.

Appearances

A Link to the Past

When Link uses this weapon, it shoots out a blue beam to freeze the enemy, but it consumes some of Link's Magic Power. It is found on Lake Hylia's shore inside a cave to the east. Despite Link being able to acquire the Ice Rod before even entering the Eastern Palace, the item isn't required until near the very end of the game. Link needs the Ice Rod in Turtle Rock when battling against the dungeon boss, Trinexx.

A Link Between Worlds

The Ice Rod can be found in Ravio's Shop to rent for 100 Rupees or purchase for 1,200 Rupees. Unlike before, this weapon floats a block of ice in the air that can be dropped on enemies. Once Link has bought it, he can upgrade it to the Nice Ice Rod after finding ten lost Maiamais and giving them to Mother Maiamai.

"A skeletal arm that keeps moving even after it's severed from its body. It's kind of gross to strap it to your back, but it'll do in a pinch. It's old and fragile, so it's quick to break."

— In-Game Description[26]

Overview

The Bokoblin Arm is a melee weapon found in Breath of the Wild. It is a skeletal remain of the arm of a Bokoblin and can be acquired after defeating a Stalkoblin. When the Bokoblin Arm falls to the ground, or when Link has it equipped, its fingers still remain animated. When the arm is on the ground, other nearby Stalkoblin or other enemies nearby may pick it up and use it as a weapon to attack Link.

With a base power of 5, it is one of the weakest melee weapons that Link can find. Furthermore, with a durability score of just 5, only the Tree Branch will break faster.

As Stalkoblin are found all throughout Hyrule, most commonly on the Great Plateau and in the Ridgeland region. However, due to their abundance, as well as the fact that every single Stalkoblin will drop a Bokoblin Arm, this is one of the most common weapons Link can acquire.

Upgrade

The Bone Atk. Up is a set bonus that will be upgrade the attack power of all bone weapons, including the Bokoblin Arm. It can be acquired as a reward from multiple armor sets.

  • If Link upgrades the Radiant Set to Level 2, he will gain the Bone Attack Upgrade.
  • If Link wears the full Phantom Ganon Set, he will also gain the ability.
