Tulin is a character in Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

Tulin is the son of Teba and Saki and can be seen with his mother at the top of Rito Village in the hut next to the village elder, Kaneli. Tulin will greet Link very politely when he first talks to him, stating that his dad always told him that great kids are great greeters.[2][3] He mentions that his Dad is over at the Flight Range and that his dad has agreed to play with him later.[4] Tulin wants to travel to the Flight Range to play, as he loves the feeling of Flying with the wind beneath his wings.[5]

After Teba returns home, Tulin can be found sleeping in a hammock near the entrance of their home, with his parents watching over him.

Age of Calamity

Tulin only makes an appearance in this game once the Age of Calamity Expansion Pass DLC is purchased, specifically in the Guardian of Remembrance scenario EX Searching Hyrule Forest. He somehow traveled back in time with his dad but was separated from him in the process, and while Teba was busy rescuing Revali and Vah Medoh from Windblight Ganon, Tulin ended up in the forest where he met with the Koroks, who taught him about the forest. His presence did not go unnoticed when Revali saw Tulin before he lost track of him and inquired Teba's help as he doesn't recall seeing him in the village and looked a lot like Teba. During their search, they find Tulin and the Rito Captain offers to protect him from the monsters, while they make their way out. Tulin surprises the adults with his familiarity with the wind patterns and false passages when they found a dead end and they managed to escape the forest unharmed.

Upon escaping, Teba tells Tulin to thank Revali since he is the reason why he is still alive.[6] Tulin complies obediently,[7] and goes in front of the Rito Champion to do just that.[8] Revali smiles a bit and complements that he is pretty good for a little kid.[9] Tulin is overjoyed,[10] and he begins jumping close to Revali's face, while the latter backs away nervously, as he tells him that he is doing a lot of training so that he can be just like him and hopes to master the Great Eagle Bow.[11] Revali sighs as he reminds him that he was nearly slain by the monsters, but he was happy regardless,[12] and adds that it won't be too long before he's the master of the wind like him.[13] Teba agrees, but he adds that he must surpass his father first.[14] Tulin then imitates Revali's abrasive persona,[15] making Teba laugh before he controls himself as Revali asks if that was meant to sound like him,[16] as Teba was at a loss for words. However, Revali had witnessed the father-son bond and Tulin's sly sense of humor was enough for Revali's heart to melt as he starts chuckling before bursting out laughing as Teba and Tulin follow along.[17] After they settle down, Tulin attempts his own take of Revali's Gale, dubbing his "Tulin's Tornado", and leaps into the air before he fell to the ground,[18] as Teba approaches him, and Revali chuckling in amusement as he reminds him that he still has a long way to go, affectionately calling him "kid".[19]

During the secret DLC ending, Revali is looking after Tulin, who is sleeping on his lap, as Teba watches. Revali manages to stop the blanket from blowing away, delighting Teba.

Tears of the Kingdom

Rito Village

TotK Tulin.jpg

"A young Rito who fought at Link's side to save his village from a strange phenomenon. When Link first visited the village, Tulin was still a child growing up in his father's shadow, and his eyes would light up seeing Link in action. Now, he has shown true growth and proved himself a Rito warrior. Tulin has inherited a secret stone and awakened as the Sage of Wind."

— Character Profile description

Tulin first appears in Tears of the Kingdom on a platform in Rito Village, arguing with his parents Teba and Saki.[20][21][22] Tulin believes that he is old enough and capable enough to deal with the blizzard by himself, while Teba does not agree.[23][24]

Tulin thinks that action needs to be done immediately, where as some of the others are more deliberate, thinking about the Song of the Stormwind Ark. Tulin thinks that the Stormwind Ark isn't real and then flies off towards the Hebra Mountains.[25][26] This begins the Tulin of Rito Village Main Quest.

Talonto Peak

Harth at the Hebra Trailhead Lodge will tell Link that Tulin has skill beyond his age, particularly a wind-gust technique. Link learns from Harth that the last time he saw Tulin he was heading on a trip to the Hebra South Summit Cave to find food. Link can find Gesane near the end of the cave, who says that Tulin saw some monsters and opted to chase them back to their nest instead of returning with the food. Tulin could be found near a lone cedar tree on Talonto Peak.

When Link finds Tulin, he is upset because one of the Aerocuda took his good bow.[27][28] After Link agrees to help retrieve it, Tulin will tell Link about his special ability that will allow him to blow a strong gust of wind wherever he wants to.[29][30] This will allow Link to travel faster in that direction while using the Paraglider. Link and Tulin fight the nearby monsters and retrieve Tulin's Bow.[31][32][33]

After a strange auro, Harth and Gesane appear, complementing the two for defeating the monsters.[34][35] Although Tulin is embarrased that he lost his bow and feels that he should have listened to Gesane, now realizing that maybe he's not quite able to handle everything by himself.[36] Tulin finally understands that working together as a team is the way to get things done.[37][38]

Tulin says that he saw Princess Zelda, who then flew above the blizzard.[39][40] Harth seems perplexed on how Zelda could have appeared and then flew up into the cloud. Harth recommends that Tulin joins Link in his search for Zelda and investigate the cloud together.[41][42] Harth explains that recent reports indicate that the Blizzard is coming from inside the cloud. Harth explains to Tulin that he alone, is uniquely qualified among the Rito to be able cross the storm sky.[43]

Tulin then accepts the mission, and then turns to Link.[44][45][46] He indicates that he saw Princess Zelda at the Sky Islands, just above Hebra Peak, so he suggests the two go there.[47][48]

Rising Island Chain

Tulin and Link begin to navigate their way up to the cloud, first making their way to the Hebra Peak. Near the beginning of the Rising Island Chain, Link and Tulin both hear a voice from the cloud that says Come...to me....[49] Tulin sees the boats floating in the sky and realizes that they are the same boats from the Song of the Stormwind Ark.[50][51] The pair proceed to make their way up the Rising Island Chain, with Tulin using his ability to propel Link across large island gaps. As the two travel even higher up the island chain, the temperature will drop, requiring Link to wear a second level of Cold Resistance. While Tulin is okay, he does show concern for Link.[52]

The Wind Temple

After making their way into the cloud, Tulin and Link will find the Wind Temple, the legendary stormwind ark spoke of in the song.[53] The pair briefly see Princess Zelda, before she disappears once again. Tulin will be able to confirm that the Blizzard that has been pounding Rito Village is coming from right here at the Stormwind Ark.[54][55] After the hatch of the ship won't open, a voice can be heard, telling Tulin to open the five locks around the ship which will open the hatch in the center.[56][57][58] Link and Tulin make their way around the ship, with Tulin using his ability to power tubes that lead to the gears and turn them.[59]

Once the hatch opens Colgera will emerge, the monster the Demon King summoned to create the blizzard.[60] After the monster is defeated the blizzard will end, revealing the bright sky once again. It will also melt a structure in the center of the ship, revealing a structure with a stone on it. The stone will float towards Tulin, who will touch it and be transported with Link to another area. Tulin's ancestor and former Sage of Wind will reveal himself, informing Tulin that the stone he found used to be his. The Rito will also give a history about the Demon King's first appearance, and how he tried to stop him with his own gust ability. He was unable to, which prompted Rauru to sacrifice himself to seal him away. The Rito tells Tulin it is his duty to help Link fight the Demon King, a role which Tulin enthusiastically accepts.[61] Tulin takes the stone, and becomes the Sage of Wind.[62] He gives Link a ring that will allow him to call upon Tulin's power at anytime.[63] He then suggests returning to Rito Village to tell his father what has occured.[64]

Link and Tulin head back to Rito Village to give the news to Teba and the rest of the residents. Tulin shows signs of growth, indicating things are much easier when he was able to work together with Link.[65] Teba will give Tulin his Great Eagle Bow in honor of his achievements.[66][67][68]

Tulin tells Link he will continue to look into the mysterious sighting of Princess Zelda on the stormwind ark, and tells him to come back later for more information.[69][70][71] This completes the Tulin of Rito Village Main Quest.

Treasure of the Secret Springs

Main article: Treasure of the Secret Springs

Tulin can later be found in Rito Village, pondering over a riddle that Harth gave him surrounding the Sturnida Secret Hot Spring.[72][73] This discussion will begin the Treasure of the Secret Springs side quest.

The Sturnida Secret Hot Spring, Goflam's Secret Hot Spring, and Sherfin's Secret Hot Spring are all found within the Hebra Mountains. The three of them make a triangle shape connecting them, and right in the middle of this triangle, is a giant Ice Block that Link can melt. Doing so reveals the entrance to the North Biron Snowshelf Cave. In the large room with the wind geyser, there are boulders found throughout the room. If Link breaks the boulders from the south, northwest, and east, water will flow in from each of the hot springs. This will cause a nearby door to open, leading to a room with a treasure chest that contains the Vah Medoh Divine Helm.

After acquiring the helm, Link can return and speak to Tulin. He comments that the helm looks like it was meant for a sage, but it's too heavy for him to wear. Tulin thinks that Link is the one who should wear the helm and he thinks its power is bound to be useful in the search for Princess Zelda.[74] This will complete the quest.

  40. "Oh, yeah, funny story about that! There was this whole thing with Princess Zelda. I spotted her getting attacked by a monster. It was such a surprise that I dropped my guard and it stole my bow. But I guess she was fine, because then she zoomed up above that cloud." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  41. "What? Princess Zelda flew above the cloud?! How can that be? Hmm... Seems like a stretch, but we're not going to get to the bottom of it sitting around here. Tulin, Link came out here looking for Princess Zelda. You should go with him, and investigate the cloud you say the princess soared into." — Harth, Tears of the Kingdom
  42. "Huh?! But I thought I wasn't allowed." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  43. "I want to see for myself as soon as I can, but the strong winds make any approach from the sides impossible. The only way in is through the top, but... There's not a Rito alive capable of crossing this stormy sky and making it all the way there. Well. Except for one. I'm talking about you, Tulin. Only you have the skill and training to create gusts at will. "Tulin will be the finest Rito warrior of all once he understands the value of working with his allies." You know who said that to me? Your old dad, Teba." — Harth, Tears of the Kingdom
  44. "Dad said that?" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  45. "Yep. And I'll make sure he knows what you accomplished here today. Now it's time you go with Link to find Princess Zelda and whatever's causing this blizzard!" — Harth, Tears of the Kingdom
  46. "No problem. The two of us together have got this!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  47. "I saw Princess Zelda up on the sky islands near Hebra Peak. Let's check there first." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  48. "Link! Tulin! We're counting on you." — Harth, Tears of the Kingdom
  49. "Whose voice was that? Was it coming from somewhere up there? Whoooa... Do you see that thing inside the cloud? Is that another boat? But it's huge! There's tons of those little flying boats too. You know what it reminds me of?" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  50. "A line of ships soaring, built as a passage skyward. The god ascended to heaven, leaving behind an ark." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  51. "This whole thing is just like the Song of the Stormwind Ark... Was that children's song true after all?! You heard that strange voice too, right, Link? I'm sure I heard it say, "come to me"! It's like it was calling us up there. I don't see anything around here that would lead us to Princess Zelda. Maybe she went over to that ship? Well, nowhere to go but up! Come on!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  52. "This is my first time flying this high. The air's pretty cold up here, huh? I'll be fine, but what about you, Link? Make sure you don't freeze, OK?" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  53. "Wow.... So this is what was waiting for us in that huge cloud. This is the Stormwind Ark from the kids' song..." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  54. "Huh? Huh?! Awk! What the—" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  55. "This proves it, Link! The blizzard that's been pounding Rito Village is coming from there! Oh yeah! Didn't I see someone here a minute ago? Weird... I could swear they were just here." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  56. "Looks like it's shut tight. But the source of the blizzard has gotta be right under that hatch! Isn't there some way we can get it open? That sound! There it is again!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  57. "Brave fledgling... There are still five locks securing the hatch on the deck. User your power to release all five locks and the hatch should open. Heed my words..." — Mysterious Voice, Tears of the Kingdom
  58. "OK, I heard it for sure this time. It was calling out to me loud and clear! The source of the blizzard messing up the village has gotta be under this hatch. If that voice was right, it'll open once we find a way to release all five locks. We're so close! C'mon, Link. Let's go figure out how to open up those locks!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  59. "Hey, look at that! Is this for one of the locks? It's kinda shaped like a windmill." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  60. "That thing must be what's causing the blizzard! We've got to take it down!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  61. "So it's my mission to fight the Demon King with you? Link! This is so, so amazing! I can't believe my ancestor gave me such an important mission—and it involves fighting alongside you to save the world! If we don't do anything, then the world is gonna be in big trouble. I can't let that happen... I'll do this! I'll happily take this secret stone!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  62. "I am the Sage of Wind! Look! Check out what I can do now!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  63. "Link. Hold out your hand. I, Tulin, the Sage of Wind, swear to fight by your side until the end! Take this! It's proof that I'm with you! You can use that ring to call on my power anytime, all right?" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  64. "OK! Let's head back to the village and tell Dad!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  65. "Yeah! Turns out it was easy once we started working together!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  66. "Wait, what?! This bow meant so much to you...and now you're giving it to me?" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  67. "It was always my intention to give it to you once you came of age as a warrior." — Teba, Tears of the Kingdom
  68. "Dad... Thank you. I'll prove to you I've become a warrior worthy of carrying it!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  69. "Hey, Link? That woman in the vision my ancestor showed us...didn't she look just like Princess Zelda to you? Do you think that was the real princess? I mean...it seemed like a long, long time ago... There's still a bunch of unanswered questions. I gotta know more about the figure we saw on the Stormwind Ark, so I'm gonna go look into it personally. Next time you see me, I'll have more information about Princess Zelda. So check in with me sometime, OK?! And remember—with my sage's power, the two of us can keep working together no matter what!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  70. "I'll keep getting stronger and stronger until the day comes when we can fight together again! I'm a descendant of the Sage of Wind, after all. I'm not going to be the one who holds you back, Link! I'm worried about Princess Zelda too, so I'll keep looking into things from this end." — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  71. "I'll take care of Rito Village, so don't you worry about it at all. Leave it to me! And I'll look into the whole Princess Zelda thing as much as I can while I'm at it!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  72. "Hey, Link! Thanks to you, life in Rito Village is slowly getting back to normal. I've been looking into leads about Princess Zelda, and I'll let you know right away if any of them go somewhere!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  73. "Oh, yeah, one other thing! I don't think this has anything to do with where the princess went, but... Harth asked me to help him sort through some ancient literature. You'll never believe what I found written in one of his books! "Sturnida, Goflam's, and Sherfin's. Hidden treasure sleeps in the center of the three secret hot springs in the mountains. "Guide the three waters to that place. When it fills, the slumbering treasure will awaken once more." There's got to be something good waiting for whoever solves the riddle, right?!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
  74. "Huh?! No way... You found the hidden treasure in the center of the three secret hot springs?! So it was real after all.. I don't know how you already found the treasure, but way to go, Link! I think this was meant for a sage, but it looks too heavy for me. Maybe it'll fit once I'm older. There's definitely some kind of power stored up in it. Maybe if you wear it, it'd make your connection to me stronger. Yeah! You should be the one to use the helm! That power it has is bound to be useful in your search for Princess Zelda! My spirit is always with you, Link. If you're ever in trouble, I'll help you out first thing!" — Tulin, Tears of the Kingdom
