The Stone of Trials is the reward for completing The Goddess's Silent Realm, found by playing the Song of the Hero in the Plaza of Skyloft.
It is one of a pair[1], with the other in one of the eye sockets of a bird statue in the north-eastern part of Skyloft's southern island. Placing the Stone of Trials in the statue's other, empty, eye socket reveals the entrance to Sky Keep, the final dungeon where the Triforce is held, below the Statue of the Goddess.
