After Zelda defeats a Beetle, a Shimmer appears, which Zelda can examine to learn the Beetle Echo. They are mostly created from Beetle Mounds in the Gerudo Desert, which Zelda must destroy in the Beetle Ballyhoo side quest. Unusually, in addition to creating beetle echoes directly, Zelda can also learn and use Beetle Mound Echoes; which can each create three beetle echoes at any one time. These beetle echoes can also be individually despawned with the Tri Rod in the same way as a standard beetle echo.

Echoes of Wisdom in-game description

After Zelda defeats a Beetle, a Shimmer appears, which Zelda can examine to learn the Beetle Echo. They are mostly created from Beetle Mounds in the Gerudo Desert, which Zelda must destroy in the Beetle Ballyhoo side quest. Unusually, in addition to creating beetle echoes directly, Zelda can also learn and use Beetle Mound Echoes; which can each create three beetle echoes at any one time. These beetle echoes can also be individually despawned with the Tri Rod in the same way as a standard beetle echo.
