The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the fifth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. Developed by Nintendo, it was published for the Nintendo 64 in 1998 and follows Link's Awakening, preceding Majora's Mask. It is the first Zelda series entry to feature a fully three-dimensional environment and was met with critical acclaim upon release. Among various accolades, it has been awarded a perfect score by publications such as Famitsu and Gamespot, as well as an enduring legacy as one of the greatest video games of all time.
The Zora are a recurring race in The Legend of Zelda series. They are a bipedal, fish-like, and aquatic species that are capable of inhabiting the water as well as the land, though they favor the former. Two varieties are known to exist, those being the River Zora and the Sea Zora, and are of vast difference from one other in regards to appearance and temperament. Though named after their most frequented habitat, both types are comfortable whether in saltwater or in freshwater.

Like previous
The Sea Zora are the more amicable of the two variants. They are usually of a tall and slender build and their complexion can vary between blue, white, green, red, and pink—with blue being the predominant coloring in earlier depictions. Their bodies are adorned by a number of fins and their heads with a dolphin-like fluke. In most Zelda series entries, the Sea Zora occupy Zora's Domain and are subjects of the monarchy. They moreover enjoy positive relations with the other races of Hyrule.

It is preceded by Link's Awakening and followed by Majora's Mask. Ocarina of Time was praised by critics and players alike for its intuitive storyline and time travel mechanics
The River Zora, though sometimes well-disposed, are most often violent toward those that they encounter, being more akin to monsters in many of their Zelda series portrayals. They are green in color and sport a long dorsal fin running down their backsides. More fins outline the face and their teeth are large and sharp. River Zora utilize fireballs projected from their sizable mouths to attack, often doing so from the water, where they are able to keep their distance from the enemy.
and its 3D graphical style, which was new technology at the time. Like previous Zelda titles, Ocarina of Time was directed and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, who also worked on Nintendo titles including the Super Mario series and Donkey Kong. Ocarina of Time was very well received by critics and it is one of the few video game titles to have received a perfect score from gaming magazine Famitsu. Ocarina of Time has received numerous awards and perfect scores in multiple gaming magazines. The game was originally released on the Nintendo 64 in numerous versions, and emulated versions of the title have been released on Nintendo GameCube (GCN), Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch; it was available in China on the iQue Player (iQue); while a remake is available for the Nintendo 3DS.

The base game mechanic behind Ocarina of Time is its titular "time travel" concept in which the hero travels backward and forward seven years in time by removing the Master Sword from its pedestal in the Temple of Time or vice versa. This blade is in turn used to defeat the game's boss monsters and seal the King of Evil, Ganondorf, in the Sacred Realm. Time travel is also used heavily in the various side stories and side quests. The other massive innovation is the use of the Ocarina of Time. The use of this instrument allows the hero to teleport to various locations, influence certain elements of the scenery, influence the time of day and the weather, speak with the hero's friend Saria, and summon your horse. This aspect introduced a heavy use of instruments in the series and has popularized the ocarina instrument since.

River Zora#The Legend of Zelda
River Zora debuted in The Legend of Zelda. They are hostile creatures that are only capable of appearing in areas with water. They are tricky to combat by way of continuously ducking in and out of the water whilst shooting fireballs toward Link, resurfacing in different positions after each cycle. It is of less risk and most efficiency to make use of ranged weapons when dispatching Zoras, but it is possible to slay them with a sword if one happens near the shores of the water. The Magical Shield is very helpful in this approach, as it can block the Zoras' projectiles.

section
In The Adventure of Link, River Zora inhabit Eastern Hyrule. Unlike its predecessor They are among some of the most dangerous enemies Link will encounter and are capable of dealing large amounts of damage. They attack by projecting beams toward Link, which may be blocked with the shield. They are completely immune to sword attacks, and the only method of eliminating them is to utilize the Fire Spell.
The story of Ocarina of Time revolves around the Gerudo King and evil wizard, Ganondorf's rise to power and the hero, Link's quest to defeat him and return peace to the land of Hyrule once again. The game opens with the hero's mentor and protector, the Great Deku Tree, sending a fairy, Navi, to inform the hero about his new responsibilities. Navi escorts the hero to the Great Deku Tree who explains that Ganondorf has come to the land of Hyrule and is vying for power. The hero leaves his home in Kokiri Forest and travels to Hyrule Castle to meet Princess Zelda. She explains to Link about a dream that she had in which all of Hyrule was covered in dark clouds. She asks Link to collect the Spiritual Stones of Fire and Water. The young hero goes to Hyrule Castle Town and watches the Princess being pursued by Ganondorf. At this point, Princess Zelda gives Link the Ocarina of Time. Link continues onward, undaunted, to the Temple of Time where he receives the Master Sword.

After removing the Master Sword from the Pedestal of Time, the hero falls into a deep sleep for seven years, guarded by the sage Rauru. When Link awakens, he discovers that much has changed during the seven years he spent sleeping. Rauru explains to Link what he must do, giving him hints on how and where to find the other sage medallions. With the help of Sheik, the hero travels to the temples and awakens the six Sages. The hero travels to the Temple of Time once more where he discovers that Sheik is actually Zelda. Ganondorf comes and captures the princess. The hero travels to Ganondorf's castle. Ganondorf confronts him for a final showdown, in which he utilizes the power hidden in the Master Sword and the Light Arrows to weaken and then defeat Ganondorf. The hero and Princess Zelda manage to escape, but before they can leave the ruins, they are confronted by Ganondorf in his true form (Ganon). The hero defeats him once again, and with the aid of Princess Zelda and the six other Sages, traps the evil king in the Sacred Realm. The Princess thanks the hero and returns him to his childhood.
A Link to the Past
Gameplay
River Zora appear again in A Link to the Past and may be encountered at Zora's Waterfall or Lake Hylia. Most are similar in appearance to and behave in a way that is identical to those seen in The Legend of Zelda—spontaneously diving, then reappearing in another position and shooting a fireball. Link can block these projectiles with the Red Shield or the Mirror Shield. Some Zora have the ability to emerge from the water, engaging Link in a more conventional combat scenario.
Ocarina of Time is the first game in the Legend of Zelda series to introduce a fully 3D environment. Ocarina of Time also pioneered the Z-targeting combat mechanic, which allows the player to lock onto an enemy or other objects. It is also useful for non-combat situations, such as locating important elements in a dungeon room, or talking to a character who is out of reach. This mechanic is now a staple of the 3D games in The Legend of Zelda series.

At a certain point in the game, the player may choose to complete a side quest where the player obtains Link's horse Epona. This allows the player to cross Hyrule at a much faster pace than before.
One notable individual is King Zora, whom resides in Zora's Waterfall. He is in possession of the Flippers, which he will sell to Link for the price of five-hundred rupees.

Races
Link's Awakening
Ocarina of Time was the first game in the franchise to feature several vastly different races. The different races are based on the different terrains throughout the main regions of the game.
The River Zora appear again in Link's Awakening as enemies inhabiting the water areas such as Martha's Bay. There is only one friendly Zora in the game that can be found in Animal Village. He can only be seen with the Magnifying Lens in the house in the northeast of the village. When Link talks to him, the Photographer appears and takes a picture of the pair.

Ocarina of Time is the first game that Sea Zora make an appearance. Their main habitat is Zora's Domain, near Zora's River. They are ruled by King Zora XVI. When Link arrives at their domain in search of the next Spiritual Stone, the Zora's Sapphire, he finds that King Zora's daughter, Princess Ruto, has gone missing. Link finds a letter from her in a bottle that says she is inside of Lord Jabu-Jabu's belly. Link rescues her, and she gives him the Spiritual Stone as a reward.

Characters
Seven years into the future, after Link withdraws the Master Sword, he visits Zora's Domain and discovers that it is completely frozen over. After traversing the Ice Cavern, he obtains the Iron Boots and enters the Water Temple. In there, he finds Ruto, and once he defeats Morpha, she becomes the Sage of Water.

Zora in Majora's Mask are found in the Great Bay region of Termina. There are several normal Zora living in the area; however, there is also a popular Zora rock band called The Indigo-Go's. Like the Deku and Goron races, there is a mask allowing Link to turn into a Zora.

Zora Mask
One of Link's four transformation masks is the Zora Mask. After playing the Song of Healing to Mikau on the shores of Great Bay, his spirit gets turned into a mask. When Link wears said mask, he turns into the Zora guitarist himself. The mask not only allows Link to become a Zora but also to have the abilities of one as well. He can swim fast in water and attacks with the fins on his arms. His musical instrument to replace the Ocarina of Time is known as the Guitar of Waves.

Locations
Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages
In Ocarina of Time, Link starts off in his home at Kokiri Forest. The forest is where the first dungeon of the game takes place inside the Great Deku Tree. In Kokiri Forest, there are many townsfolk, including the leader Mido and Link's best friend, Saria. There is a place called the Lost Woods within the forest. Saria has a hideout there next to the Forest Temple, which is unreachable as a kid. Out of Kokiri Forest, there is a place called Hyrule Field, the largest area in the game. Every location is connected to it, with Hyrule Field being at the center of these locations acting as almost a hub world. As a kid, Link must run very far across the field. As an adult, Link can have an optional event to get a horse, Epona, which makes travel much more efficient in Hyrule Field. The next area Link can visit is the Market, which is where the majority of townsfolk, stores, and games are located. The Bazaar, a store with many convenient wares such as the Hylian shield is first encountered at the Market. There is also a Potion Shop, which sells potions to refill Link's life and Magic Meter. Next is the Happy Mask Shop, which gives Link the option to embark on a series of side quests selling masks. If Link completes these missions, he can obtain the Mask of Truth.
The Zora race inhabits the seas south of the areas known as the Fairies' Woods in the Present and the Deku Forest in the Past. They live under the water in Zora Village, appropriately within the Zora Seas. Unlike the River Zoras, who protrude from various waters and shoot fireballs at Link, the Sea Zora are a gentle race of a more human-like appearance and intelligence.

Link ventures to Zora Village after completing the Mermaid's Cave and obtaining the Mermaid Suit, which allows him to swim and breathe underwater. Upon traveling to the past age of Zora Village, Link finds that because of the pollution that fills the seas, thanks to Veran, King Zora has become very ill. In order to save King Zora's life, Link must bring him some Potion. King Zora rewards Link by giving him the key to the Eyeglass Island Library, where Link then obtains the Fairy Powder, use it to return the Fairy Queen to her former self, and ultimately have her to cleanse the seas of all the pollution. These acts gain Link the trust of King Zora to enter their deity Lord Jabu-Jabu, which is actually the location of the seventh dungeon and Essence of Time.

Heart Pieces
Once Link obtains the seventh Essence, he is given the Zora Scale for all he has done for the Zora people. This scale allows Link to enter the Sea of Storms, located just east of Zora Village, and leads to the eighth dungeon and final Essence of Time.

Ocarina of Time features 36 heart pieces scattered across Hyrule. It takes four Pieces of Heart to form a full Heart Container, meaning there are 9 potential Heart Containers for you to find! This combined with the 3 starting heart containers, as well as the 8 heart containers obtained from completing the dungeons allows Link's total health to increase to 20 hearts.

Reception
The Wind Waker
Reviews for Ocarina of Time were extremely good. The most notable being IGN's review for the game which was a perfect 10/10. This perfect score was the very first IGN had ever given out. This game is commonly referred to as the best Zelda game and one of the best games ever.

There is only one Zora in The Wind Waker: Laruto, the Sage of Earth. She was killed by Ganondorf to prevent her from praying to keep the power to repel evil in the Master Sword. Her spirit remains in the Earth Temple until Link plays the Earth God's Lyric. She tells him to go and find her descendant, a Rito girl named Medli.

Beta
Eiji Aonuma has said that the Rito are the evolved form of the Zora. The Rito make many references to the Zora, such as the symbol of the Zora's Sapphire appearing on clothing, but the most convincing fact is that Medli shares a bloodline with a Zora, Laruto.
The beta for Ocarina of Time holds many mysteries. Although nobody knows for sure what the original plot of the game was in the beta, there are some facts known. In early stages of development, the Lost Woods were a fully 3D environment. Remnants of a location dubbed the Unicorn Fountain by fans have also been found in Ocarina of Times code, though it cannot be found in the regular game. One early video showed Link receiving the full Triforce, causing many rumors that it could be obtained in the game. Several people suggested that the Unicorn Fountain was related to the Triforce. However, there is no proof that the Triforce ever was or is in the game's code. Another cool fact about the beta is that the medallions received from the Sages were items that granted special powers. It is believed that they were initially used to warp instead of the Ocarina of Time. An unnamed group of ROM Hackers managed to find a frozen NPC in the game's data of a character who they believed was supposed to replace Navi. The hackers are currently working at trying to make her fully functional and hope to eventually release a patch that makes her compatible with the current game Additionally, the code for two medallions that are not seen in the game appeared that translate into Wind Medallion and Earth Medallion.

An expansion to Ocarina of Time, known as Ura Zelda, was planned to make use of the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive and add new dungeons.IGN August 27th, 1999 However, due to poor reception and little support of the Disk Drive, the project was scrapped. Afterward, Eiji Aonuma, the director of the Zelda franchise, asked Miyamoto for permission to make an entirely new Zelda game within a year so that he did not have to work on it any longer. Miyamoto agreed, and this game became Majora's Mask, code-named Zelda Gaiden (Zelda Side-Story) at the time. The rest of Ura Zelda most likely became Master Quest.

I'm a guy who just enjoys writing stuff and the sensation of typing. I got into Zelda probably a lot later than most people here and my favorite is OoT. Zelda Dungeon has since been my preferred choice for walkthroughs, so I was naturally drawn to its wiki whenever I needed more info on something. I noticed that a lot of articles could use some work, so I decided to give back a bit.

I'm new to editing so please be nice to me!!

Below might be what I'm workin on

The Zora are a recurring race in The Legend of Zelda series. They are a bipedal, fish-like, and aquatic species that are capable of inhabiting the water as well as the land, though they favor the former. Two varieties are known to exist, those being the River Zora and the Sea Zora, and are of vast difference from one other in regards to appearance and temperament. Though named after their most frequented habitat, both types are comfortable whether in saltwater or in freshwater.

The Legend of Zelda

Main article: River Zora (The Legend of Zelda)

River Zora debuted in The Legend of Zelda. They are hostile creatures that are only capable of appearing in areas with water. They are tricky to combat by way of continuously ducking in and out of the water whilst shooting fireballs toward Link, resurfacing in different positions after each cycle. It is of less risk and most efficiency to make use of ranged weapons when dispatching Zoras, but it is possible to slay them with a sword if one happens near the shores of the water. The Magical Shield is very helpful in this approach, as it can block the Zoras' projectiles.

The Adventure of Link

Main article: River Zora (The Adventure of Link)

In The Adventure of Link, River Zora inhabit Eastern Hyrule. Unlike its predecessor They are among some of the most dangerous enemies Link will encounter and are capable of dealing large amounts of damage. They attack by projecting beams toward Link, which may be blocked with the shield. They are completely immune to sword attacks, and the only method of eliminating them is to utilize the Fire Spell.

A Link to the Past

"Like Poseidon in his day, Zora ruled the waterways of Hyrule, controlling storm and calm, current and waterfall. Zora's Spawn answered only to him, and he determined who would use the Whirlpools that carried swimmers from place to place. Zora's special Flippers let swimmers tread in even the deepest waters, but they cost deeply."

One notable individual is King Zora, whom resides in Zora's Waterfall. He is in possession of the Flippers, which he will sell to Link for the price of five-hundred rupees.

Link's Awakening

The River Zora appear again in Link's Awakening as enemies inhabiting the water areas such as Martha's Bay. There is only one friendly Zora in the game that can be found in Animal Village. He can only be seen with the Magnifying Lens in the house in the northeast of the village. When Link talks to him, the Photographer appears and takes a picture of the pair.

Ocarina of Time

King Zora has a round and much bigger form than other Zora

Ocarina of Time is the first game that Sea Zora make an appearance. Their main habitat is Zora's Domain, near Zora's River. They are ruled by King Zora XVI. When Link arrives at their domain in search of the next Spiritual Stone, the Zora's Sapphire, he finds that King Zora's daughter, Princess Ruto, has gone missing. Link finds a letter from her in a bottle that says she is inside of Lord Jabu-Jabu's belly. Link rescues her, and she gives him the Spiritual Stone as a reward.

Majora's Mask

Zora in Majora's Mask are found in the Great Bay region of Termina. There are several normal Zora living in the area; however, there is also a popular Zora rock band called The Indigo-Go's. Like the Deku and Goron races, there is a mask allowing Link to turn into a Zora.

The Indigo-Go's

Main article: The Indigo-Go's

The Indigo-Go's are a Zora rock band exclusive to Majora's Mask. It consists of Mikau (guitar), Evan (piano), Japas (bass), Lulu (vocals), and Tijo (drums). The manager is Toto.

Zora Mask

Main article: Zora Mask

One of Link's four transformation masks is the Zora Mask. After playing the Song of Healing to Mikau on the shores of Great Bay, his spirit gets turned into a mask. When Link wears said mask, he turns into the Zora guitarist himself. The mask not only allows Link to become a Zora but also to have the abilities of one as well. He can swim fast in water and attacks with the fins on his arms. His musical instrument to replace the Ocarina of Time is known as the Guitar of Waves.

Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages

Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages Zora

Once Link obtains the seventh Essence, he is given the Zora Scale for all he has done for the Zora people. This scale allows Link to enter the Sea of Storms, located just east of Zora Village, and leads to the eighth dungeon and final Essence of Time.

The Wind Waker

Laruto, the only Zora in The Wind Waker

There is only one Zora in The Wind Waker: Laruto, the Sage of Earth. She was killed by Ganondorf to prevent her from praying to keep the power to repel evil in the Master Sword. Her spirit remains in the Earth Temple until Link plays the Earth God's Lyric. She tells him to go and find her descendant, a Rito girl named Medli.

Eiji Aonuma has said that the Rito are the evolved form of the Zora. The Rito make many references to the Zora, such as the symbol of the Zora's Sapphire appearing on clothing, but the most convincing fact is that Medli shares a bloodline with a Zora, Laruto.

Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess Zora

In Twilight Princess, the Zora once more are a peaceful race residing in Zora's Domain, near Lake Hylia. When Link first arrives, their home is covered in ice, but he can easily unfreeze it with a large volcanic rock from Death Mountain. The Zora were ruled by Queen Rutela until her death, when her son, Prince Ralis, was supposed to take over. Link finds Prince Ralis in Castle Town, where Ilia is trying to save him from sickness. Queen Rutela's ghost asks Link to save her son, so he guides Ralis, Telma, and Ilia across Hyrule Field to Kakariko Village. Once Ralis is safe, Rutela gives Link the Zora Armor in the Graveyard.

A Link Between Worlds

Only River Zora appear in A Link Between Worlds. Some are hostile and some are not. The non-hostile Zora wear capes. The Zora Queen, Queen Oren, is a sage. Also, a Shady Guy steals the Smooth Gem from her pool, causing her to swell. Link needs to purchase the Smooth Gem for 200 Rupees at Kakariko Village and return it to the pool. Queen Oren will then give Link the Zora's Flippers.

Breath of the Wild

"The Zora are an aquatic race who live in the pure, bountiful waters of Lanayru. They have fish-like fins and uniquely colored scales. They excel at swimming and water-based activities, but that also makes them vulnerable to electricity. They have their own royal family that goes back countless generations and unifies the people. Compared to other Hyrulean races, the Zora age slowly and are extremely long lived. That is why there are so many Zora still alive who experienced the Great Calamity firsthand."
