This article is about the dungeon in Ocarina of Time. For the dungeon in Oracle of Ages, see Jabu-Jabu's Belly.

Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly is the third dungeon in Ocarina of Time. It is located inside Lord Jabu-Jabu in Zora's Fountain.

Story

Spoiler Alert! This section describes a subject that is sensitive to plot development.

As soon as Link has the Silver Scale, he can pick up a message in a bottle at Lake Hylia. The bottled message turns out to be a letter from Princess Ruto, who calls for help from Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly[1]. When Link shows the letter to King Zora, he allows Link to go to Lord Jabu-Jabu.

Entry to the dungeon is only gained by offering a delicious fish to the Guardian Deity (either bought at the Zora Shop for 200 Rupees or self-caught). Once entered, Link has to find and carry Ruto to several places until the Spiritual Stone of Water is found. After Link defeats the dungeon boss Barinade, he is rewarded with the Zora's Sapphire by Ruto, who considers it a wedding engagement.

Gaining Entrance

Link cannot even reach Lord Jabu-Jabu until after he gains entry past King Zora. To do so, Link must obtain the Silver Scale by completing the Diving Game in Zora's Domain. With the scale in hand, Link can then use the shortcut to Lake Hylia, where he finds Ruto's Letter. If Link shows the letter to King Zora, the king will request that Link rescue his daughter and will move out of the way (with an infamously slow, squeaking motion) to allow Link passage to Zora's Fountain.

To enter the Zora's deity, Link needs to obtain a Fish in a bottle. This can be done by purchasing one for 200 Rupees, or going to the shallow waters near the Zora Shop and catching one completely free of charge. He then needs to release the fish in front of Jabu-Jabu's mouth, and the great fish will inhale the offering and Link with it. From then on, the dungeon can be entered by simply approaching Jabu-Jabu's mouth directly.

Dungeon Overview

All dungeon walls are organic, indicating that this dungeon is inside a living being. Many enemies inside make use of electricity. Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly has a lot of unique enemies, only seen in this dungeon in Ocarina of Time, like Shaboms or the Biri, who are like electric jellyfish.
