Jump is a recurring ability in the The Legend of Zelda series.

The Adventure of Link

In The Adventure of Link, Link has the natural ability to jump by pressing the jump button. This can be performed at almost anytime and can be used to jump over gaps, enemies, or to reach higher platforms. Link is later able to learn the Jump Spell, which will allow him to Jump even higher, allowing him to reach higher ledges and cross larger gaps.

Link later learns the downward thrust and jump thrust abilities, which will allow Link to attack downward and upward with his sword while using the jump ability.

Link's Awakening

Link does not have the natural ability to jump in Link's Awakening, but he learns the ability after acquiring Roc's Feather from Tail Cave. With the Roc's Feather equipped, Link is able to jump over gaps and reach higher ledges. Link can also perform a running jump using Roc's Feather in combination with the Pegasus Boots.

Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons, Link also acquires Roc's Feather, but then later acquires Roc's Cape. This ability allows Link to jump even further across much larger gaps. When combined with the Pegasus Seeds, Link can seemingly jump and soar across massive gaps.

Oracle of Ages

Link acquires the Roc's Feather in the Wing Dungeon and it functions similar from its appearance in Link's Awakening. Unlike Oracle of Seasons, Link does get the upgraded Roc's Cape, so he's unable to jump across large distances.

The Minish Cap

The Roc's Cape returns in The Minish Cap where Link acquires it as a dungeon item in the Palace of Winds. Link is requires to use the cape to jump up on higher clouds as well as across large gaps. When used in combination with wind fans, Link can fly across large gaps. The Roc's Cape is an equippable item and it is required when fighting the Gyorg Pair, the boss of the Palace of Winds]].

Four Swords Adventures

The Links can once again jump using Roc's Feathers, which can be obtained on various stages around Hyrule. Pressing B while in mid-air will have Link swoop downward quickly with his sword.[1] It can be upgraded at a Great Fairy Fountain to Level 2, which will allow the Links to double jump.[2]

Breath of the Wild

In Breath of the Wild, a dedicated Jump button is added as part of Link's abilities. In previous 3D Zelda titles, Link would Auto-Jump when running and approaching a gap. In Breath of the Wild this becomes a manual process where Link must jump himself. While in the air, Link use a shield to perform a Shield-Surfing ability where he rides on his shield. Link can also use his Bow while he jumps and is in the air, causing his surroundings to move in slow motion, allowing him to able aim more precisely with his arrow shot.

Tears of the Kingdom

The jump mechanic is identical in Tears of the Kingdom to in Breath of the Wild. The dedicated jump button must be pressed in order for Link to perform a jump.

In Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda has a dedicated jump button which she can perform by pressing B. Jumping has its limitations as she'll only be able to jump up small heights. However, she is later able to equip accessories, such as the Frog Ring, which will give her the Jump Height Up effect, allowing her to jump higher.
