Moas are enemies from The Adventure of Link and Echoes of Wisdom.

The Adventure of Link

Moas are flying spirits that resemble a floating eyeball. They can be found flying around many places in Hyrule. There are four variations of the Moa. All of them fly back and forth in a way that is locked to Link's horizontal position, making side-to-side dodging useless. When they're covering the ground and there's nowhere to run, it's usually best to try and intercept them with a well-timed sword slash/projectile, or use the Jump Spell/Fairy Spell to more easily get over them.

Red Moa

Red Moas are spirits that fly across the graveyards found throughout Western Hyrule. These Moas simply fly slowly across the screen in the same direction Link moves in. They can steal 20 experience points from Link if he touches one. Red Moas are the weakest variation of Moa and can be defeated with a few sword slashes. Link gains 10 experience points for defeating the Red Moa.

Blue Moa

Blue Moas are invisible spirits that fly across the graveyards found throughout Eastern Hyrule. Blue Moas cannot be seen unless Link has obtained the Cross from the Three-Eye Rock Palace. They cause more damage than the Red Moas, and also can steal experience points from Link. Blue Moas have a large amount of hit points and they need many sword slashes to be defeated. Link gains 50 experience points for defeating the Blue Moa.

Purple Moa

Purple Moas are identical to blue Moas. They are invisible and Link must have obtained the Cross to see them. Purple Moas appear only in the cursed town of Old Kasuto and the Valley of Death. Like the Blue Moas, they have a large amount of hit points and need many sword slashes to be defeated. Purple Moas are the only kind of Moa that do not steal experience points if Link touches one. The Purple Moa is one of the few enemies impervious to the transformative effects of Spell. Link gains 50 experience points for defeating the Purple Moa.

Fire Moa

Fire Moas are a special variation of Moa that is only found in palaces. They are orange in color, and have the ability to drop fire into their enemies while they fly. Fire Moas have less hit points than Blue and Purple Moas. But, they have the ability to steal experience points from Link like the blue and red ones. They are difficult to defeat because they can fly quite high off the ground. Link gains 50 experience points for defeating the Fire Moa.

Non-Canon Appearances

This section describes a subject that is or may be outside the core Zelda canon.

The Faces of Evil

Moas appear in the same fashion as they do in The Wand of Gamelon.

The Wand of Gamelon

Moas usually appear in numbers and, because of their small height, can be quite the nuisance. They aren't very powerful, but with little recovery time, they can be deadly if they swarm Zelda as a pack. Moas can be defeated with a single sword slash or sword beam. Unfortunately, these eye-like enemies do not leave any goodies once they have been defeated.

Cadence of Hyrule

In Cadence of Hyrule, Moas are common enemies in the Future World that were added as part of the Symphony of the Mask DLC. Moas turn 90 degrees to their right every beat, and dash at the player if they see him or her. Unlike the Moas in The Adventure of Link, Moas only come in purple in Cadence of Hyrule. Unless the player wields Fragarach, Moas are only vulnerable when facing the player.
