The Shard of Agony is the Ocarina of Time 3D version of the Stone of Agony. In the original version on the Nintendo 64, the Stone of Agony would use the rumble feature to indicate when a secret is nearby. The Shard of Agony instead will have a chiming sound play, with a small icon of the shard flashing at the top-left corner of the upper screen when a hidden grotto is approached.

The Shard of Agony can be acquired once Link has collected 20 Gold Skulltula Tokens and has broken part of the curse of the House of Skulltula.
