Spears are a category of weapons in Breath of the Wild. These weapons have longer reach than other weapons and their stabs are quick, but they deal little damage per hit. The basic attack sequence consists of five stabs, with the fifth being more powerful, breaking through an enemy's defenses or knocking it back. If Link performs a Perfect Dodge and enters Flurry Rush, he will execute six hits. If the attack button is held, stamina is drained until the button is released and Link performs a number of quick stabs based on the duration of the hold. Since Link requires both hands to hold the weapon, he cannot use a Shield at the same time.
