Echoes of Wisdom in-game description

Wind Cannons can be found in the caves near the Gerudo Desert. Unless Zelda has the Gold Sash equipped, their constant stream of strong wind can push her around and into bottomless pits if she does not block their effect with a heavy object, such as a Boulder Echo. Some are embedded into cliff faces, but free-standing ones can be picked up and moved around once she is out of their line of effects, and used to disperse mounds of sand, revealing either enemies, treasure, or a blocked door. It can also be used to push enemies into a nearby hole.

She can also scan the free-standing ones with the Tri Rod to learn the Wind Cannon Echo. She can then create the echoes of wind cannons whenever she likes.

In the Blank-Slate Battle: Wind training session in the Slumber Dojo, Wind Cannons (and their echoes) are one of only two ways Zelda can defeat the eight Gibdos (the other being bind).
