"Fighter's Shield
Link's Uncle will hand over the family-owned Fighter's Shield at the same time he gives him the Sword."
The Fighter's Shield is a shield from A Link to the Past.
A Link to the Past
At the beginning of the game, Link's Uncle receives a telepathic message from Zelda to come and rescue her from Hyrule Castle. He takes the Fighter’s Shield and Fighter's Sword with him, but at some point on his journey he is fatally wounded. Link discovers his uncle in the secret passage to the castle courtyard, who entrusts Link with his sword and shield and Zelda's safety before passing.
The Fighter's Shield is the weakest shield in the game. It can only deflect arrows, spears and rocks. It cannot deflect fireballs or laser beams.
The shield can be eaten by a Pikit. If lost a replacement can be obtained for 50 Rupees in four shops of the Dark World. A shield cannot be purchased if Link already has a shield.
This shield can be upgraded to the Red Shield by either:
- Purchasing one in a store for 500 Rupees
- Throwing the shield into the Waterfall of Wishing
