They have a series of triangles which float behind them. [[Echo]]es from the Tri Rod take one or more of these for as long as they exist. In the scene where Zelda receives the Tri Rod, Tri has three triangles, but in other scenes of the first trailer, this has increased to four.

Tri is Zelda's companion in Echoes of Wisdom. Called an "ethereal being", they give her the Tri Rod.

Echoes of Wisdom

Tri first appears as a small, yellow figure following Zelda while she escapes from the Suthorn Ruins. After Zelda has been taken to a cell in the basement of Hyrule Castle, Tri appears in its full form, saying that they followed Zelda to the castle. Tri creates the Tri Rod for Zelda to use, giving her the ability to use Echoes.

While escaping the Castle Tri explains their kind's job was to mend the rifts appearing throughout Hyrule. After reaching the Suthorn Forest, Tri senses their friends nearby. Tri uses their power to help Zelda enter the Still World, where they enter the Suthorn Ruins once more, and rescue Minister Lefte and Tri's friends.

Prior to exploring the Rifts only Zelda is able to see Tri, as Impa is unable to see them while Zelda escapes the castle. This changes after they meet people who have been rescued from the Rifts, as they also now have the ability to see Tri.

Tri has series of triangles which float behind them. Echoes from the Tri Rod will use one of the triangles for as long as that echo exists. If Tri only has three triangles, then only three echoes can exist at a time. After completing a dungeon and rescuing more of Tri's friends, they will lend Tri some of their power and increase the triangles by one. This allows Zelda to create one more echo with each additional triangle.

In addition to echoes, Tri can also bind a physical object, such as a boulder, echo or enemy, to Zelda's location; allowing her to either move them with her or Reverse Bond to move with them.

Tri's Power

Tri gains levels from rescuing their friends held captive in the Still World, who then mend rifts and "share their energy" with Tri. Completing a dungeon and sealing a major rift gives them a full level, whereas smaller rifts can give as little as 20% of a level. The highest level they can reach is Lv. 11.
