Winter is one of the four seasons featured in The Legend of Zelda series. It is characterized by snow and ice, as well as the complete lack of vegetation.

Majora's Mask

The Snowhead region in Majora's Mask is cursed with constant winter. The constant winter causes many problems such as the Goron Racetrack being closed, Mountain Smithy's forge being frozen, and the absence of the Frog Choir in the mountains.

Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons, several regions throughout the land of Holodrum have Winter as their default season. During Winter, snow will appear in several areas of the overworld and often block Link's path. Other times, however, the snow may be piled into a mound which creates a passageway for Link to cross. Additionally, some bodies of water will freeze over, allowing Link to travel across them by foot, and certain trees are completely barren of any leaves, narrowing the amount of land that the tree covers thus allowing Link to navigate around them.

The Western Coast, Eyeglass Lake, Goron Mountain, and Temple Remains regions have Winter as their primary season. Parts of North Horon also have Winter as its primary season. Despite its name, the Woods of Winter never have Winter as its default season, likely due to the seasons being thrown out of whack by General Onox.

After completing the Gnarled Root Dungeon, Link travels to Subrosia to obtain the Rod of Seasons from the Temple of Seasons and have it blessed with the Power of Winter by the Season Spirit of Winter. This allows Link to change the season of any area to Winter by swinging the Rod of Seasons from atop a tree stump.
