Goddess Chests are mysterious treasure chests left by the Goddess to aid the chosen hero in Skyward Sword. Each Goddess Chest can only be opened after its relative Goddess Cube has been activated on the Surface by a Skyward Strike. They will sometimes hold important items, such as an Adventure Pouch or an Empty Bottle, but mostly just have large amounts of Rupees.
