Ikana Graveyard is a location that appears in Majora's Mask.[1]
Majora's Mask
Ikana Graveyard is situated within the final region of the game, Ikana. More specifically it is located on the left as Link enters the region. The graveyard itself is the resting place of the once thriving civilization of Ikana Kingdom.[2] The area is largely deserted and during the day the grave keeper Dampé wanders round while at night the undead Stalchildren rise from their graves.
Day
During the day, Dampé watches over the graveyard, patrolling the graves back and forth, apparently doing nothing at all.[3] On Day 2, he will pay Link 30 rupees if he kills all the Bad Bats. However, if Link wears the Captain's Hat, he will see him as a ghost and run away.
Link can head to the back of the graveyard to find Captain Keeta. Link must play the Sonata of Awakening in order to awaken and challenge him. Captain Keeta retreats down a predetermined path, placing firewalls behind him in attempt to keep Link from catching up to him. Link must defeat the Stalchildren in order to lower the firewalls and catch Captain Keeta. If Link fails to catch up to Captain Keeta before he reaches the end of the path, the captain will assume that Link doesn't have the strength required and Link must try again on a different day.[4] However, if Link catches Captain Keeta and defeats him, he will be granted the Captain's Hat, as the flames surrounding the Treasure Chest clear.[5]
Night
At night, the Stalchildren, who are the cursed soldiers of Ikana Kingdom, rise from the dead and patrol the gravestones.[6] Depending on the day, the Stalchildren patrol different graves. Stalchildren are vigilant to Link when they see him unless he is wearing the Captain's Hat. If Link dons the Captain's Hat, he can order the Stalchildren to open the specific grave their guarding and enter it.[7] Within the openable graves are holes leading to Beneath the Graveyard, where Link can learn the Song of Storms and earn Pieces of Heart, depending on the day.
