The Wind Waker Trading Sequence is a sequence containing 12 items in The Wind Waker. At the end, it grants Link a Piece of Heart and Magic Armor. However, it requires several rupees to complete. The sequence involves trading items from Zunari's Shop with Traveling Merchants around the Great Sea to gain new items.
Story
After Link obtains the Delivery Bag, he can begin the Trading Sequence. Upon visiting Zunari at Zunari's Shop, he notices Link's Delivery Bag and asks for a favor.[1] He points out that he is lacking products to sell, so he requests that Link visits the three Traveling Merchants to obtain new products.[2] He explains the merchant's oath, where the merchants will exchange stock.[3] If Link accepts, he declares them partners and hands him a Town Flower to begin his quest.[4]
Link can then take the Town Flower to any of the three Traveling Merchants, who reside on Greatfish Isle, Bomb Island, and Mother and Child Isles. Upon trading with them they give Link something else in return, as long as he pays a small fee.[5][6] If it is a new item for Link, they will form a merchant's oath, and the merchant will send a shipment of the product to Zunari's Shop.[7] Zunari then sells the object for the same price as the merchants, except in the cases of the Hero's Flag and Fountain Idol.[8]
Rewards
Link can obtain two major awards from this sequence. The first and easiest to obtain is the Magic Armor, which is awarded to Link only after he gains the Sea Flower and Exotic Flower for Zunari's Shop. These can be received by trading twice with the Greatfish Isle Traveling Merchant – once with the Town Flower to obtain the Sea Flower, and then again with the Sea Flower for the Exotic Flower. He is very grateful once he has three products to sell.[9] As thanks, he gives Link the armor, supposedly a family treasure of his.[10]
The second reward is a Piece of Heart that requires a bit more effort. It can be received by giving the Shop Guru Statue, the sequence's most expensive item, to the Greatfish Isle Traveling Merchant. He explains how he traveled from far away lands in hopes of finding it, and promises a "heart-filling reward" if he can have it.[11] He is very excited to see it and gives Link the Piece of Heart as promised.[12]
Information
The table lists all of the possible trades, and what each merchant will give Link for each item.

The easiest way to obtain the Piece of Heart is:
- Obtain the Town Flower from Zunari.
- Trade the Town Flower to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Sea Flower.
- Trade the Sea Flower to the Greatfish Isle Merchant again for an Exotic Flower.
- Trade the Exotic Flower to the Bomb Island Merchant for a Sickle Moon Flag.
- Trade the Sickle Moon Flag to the same merchant for a Fountain Idol.
- Trade the Fountain Idol to the Mother and Child Isles Merchant for a Big Sale Flag.
- Trade the Big Sale Flag to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Hero's Flag.
- Trade the Hero's Flag to the same merchant for the Postman Statue.
- Trade the Postman Statue to the Mother and Child Isles Merchant for the Shop Guru Statue.
- Finally, offer the Shop Guru Statue to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Piece of Heart.
However, this method skips the Pinwheel, Big Catch Flag, and Skull Tower Idol. In order to obtain all of the items for Zunari, Link must make more trades. This method costs 560 Rupees.
The most efficient way to trade for all the items is:
- Obtain the Town Flower from Zunari.
- Trade the Town Flower to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Sea Flower.
- Trade the Sea Flower to the same merchant for an Exotic Flower.
- Trade the Exotic Flower to the Mother and Child Isles Merchant for a Pinwheel.
- Trade the Pinwheel to the Bomb Island Merchant for a Sickle Moon Flag.
- Trade the Sickle Moon Flag to the Mother and Child Isles Merchant for a Big Catch Flag.
- Trade the Big Catch Flag to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Fountain Idol.
- Trade the Fountain Idol to the same merchant for a Skull Tower Idol.
- Trade the Skull Tower Idol to the Mother and Child Isles Merchant for a Big Sale Flag.
- Trade the Big Sale Flag to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Hero's Flag.
- Trade the Hero's Flag to the same merchant for a Postman Statue.
- Trade the Postman Statue with the Mother and Child Isles Merchant for a Shop Guru Statue.
- Finally, offer the Shop Guru Statue to the Greatfish Isle Merchant for a Piece of Heart.
This method costs 755 Rupees.

- ↑ "Yes, yes! Master! Now that I take a longer look at you, I see that you have a fine Delivery Bag, do you not? Dear me, it is a bag fit for a hero...of delivery! I have a small request, and it requires the use of that bag... A request? I'm out of here!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Or was the shock that knocked you out of your boat so hard that you forgot basic boatin' technique? Just swim next to your boat and press [A] to climb in! Anyway, now that you're back to your senses, you wanna play again, right? Oh! Way to be!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "No, no, no! Do not look so frightened! I say contracts, but it is just a word. You do not have to do anything very difficult. All I need for you to do is trade one of my products for a new product that the merchant has in stock. You see, among merchants, a trade is proof of a contract! That is to say, it is the merchant's oath... That is what we call it. Yes, yes. Merchants that have sworn a merchant's oath will afterwards send their products to me. It is the way things work. So, as you succeed in trading my products, my product lineup will increase!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Yes, yes! Young master, you are now my new salesman! No, no! Scratch that! Starting today, you and I are partners! Dear me, yes! I give to you my proof of contract... In other words, this is my merchant's oath! Take it with you, my young partner!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Huh? That's... a Town Flower...is it not? In that case... Would you be interested in trading that for this Sea Flower? Sure No thanks" — Greatfish Isle Traveling Merchant, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Most agreeable! Then my fee will be... Yeah... That'll be 20 Rupees on the dot. It's a deal No way" — Mother and Child Isles Traveling Merchant, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "So, by trading your goods for my goods, we have formed a merchant's oath. So, from now on I shall honor our merchant's oath by sending shipments of my product to the Windfall Island Shop. How, you ask? Why, my good friend the postman will take it there for me, so it will probably get there before you do. Just go back to Windfall and check for yourself." — Bomb Island Traveling Merchant, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Sea Flower 20 Rupees The aroma of the sea wafts out of this flower that hails from a faraway land. Use it to adorn the town with a sea breeze!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Yes, yes! Young master, look! Already, my shop has a wide variety of products to choose from! It is a cornucopia! Thanks to you, young master, every morning the postman comes with packages from the traveling salesmen you traded with. At last, my humble stall has the appearance of a full-fledged store! My dear! Your unflagging dedication has strengthened my determination to live my life for the success of my business!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Master, you are the savior of my stall! I must thank you from the very bottom of my heart. This is my most prized posession_next to my hoodie coat, of course! It is none other than the Zunari family treasure... Please accept it!" — Zunari, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "You see, there's this mystical curio that I've been seeking for ages now... It's called the Shop Guru Statue. It's said to be a statue of the most incredible of men, a man who has long reigned at the peak of the business world. ...But why would you have it? I've heard there are traveling merchants on the Mother & Child Isles and on Bomb Island... I wonder if either of those guys might have it... Awwwww... If someone would just trade that most excellent item to me, I would offer them a heart-filling reward in return." — Greatfish Isle Traveling Merchant, The Wind Waker.
- ↑ "Is... Is that...? It couldn't be... The Shop Guru Statue?!? ...Such a divine figure! Surely, this is none other than the legendary individual who reigns at the peak of the business world! Oh, most worthy day! Wow! My lifelong dream has at long last come true! Such joy! This is my thanks to you for fulfilling my dream! It's a heart-filled reward brimming with gratitude! All right, hold out your hands..." — Greatfish Isle Traveling Merchant, The Wind Waker.
