The Hylia River is a location found in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

The Hylia River is fed by the Zora River and Rutala River through the Lanayru Wetlands.

The main course of the river runs down the east of Hyrule Field. It is branched in the north to fill the Hyrule Castle Moat, which feeds into the Regencia River; and further south to fill Nabi Lake. South of Nabi Lake, the Squabble River feeds into it near Proxim Bridge, before it reaches its end in Lake Hylia.

Many bridges cross it, including Orsedd Bridge, Rebonae Bridge, Horwell Bridge and Owlan Bridge. Woodland Stable, Wetland Stable and Riverside Stable are on its banks at various points.

Throw a boulder into the ring of rocks found in the west bank of the river. The Cyronis rune can be used to help the boulder make it all the way as it is difficult to throw the boulder far enough otherwise.

Push the boulder so it rolls into the hole.

Roll the boulder down the hill into the hole.

Catch the fairy lights as they circle around the area.

Trivia

During the E3 2016 Treehouse demonstration of Breath of the Wild, the Hylia River was located on the Great Plateau. The name of that river was changed to the River of the Dead before release.

Tears of the Kingdom

The Hylia River is a massive river that forms near the Lanayru Wetlands. The water that flows from the Zora River and the Rutala River both flow into the Hylia River, which travels northwestward to the Hyrule Castle Moat. From there the Hylia River flows southward, connecting with the Squabble River and eventually flowing into Lake Hylia.

Treasure Chests

There are numerous treasure chests in and around the Hylia River.

  • Red Rupee - A wooden chest can be found floating west of the Zelo Pond near the start of the river.
  • Arrow x10 - Just southeast of the Thims Bridge, an Aerocuda can be found carrying a wooden chest.
  • Arrow x5 - Floating in the water just south of the Thims Bridge.
  • Opal - Southeast of Woodland Stable near the dock. The chest is found deep underwater and cannot be reached using Ultrahand. Use the nearby Hyrule Restoration Materials to connect a series of pieces of Lumber. Then extend that into the water to attach to the treasure chest.
  • Arrow x5 - In a chest southwest of Woodland Stable. The wooden chest will occasionally float down the river in this area.
  • Bomb Flower x3 - Found in a chest underwater, west of Woodland Stable.
  • Rocket x3 - In a chest on the east side of the river, just north of the Floret Sandbar.

Korok Seeds

  • Just south of the Orsedd Bridge, there is a small island in the water with several rocks in a square formation. One rock is missing and can be found just to the west. Use Ultrahand to bring the rock over and complete the formation to get the Korok Seed.
  • East of the Crenel Hills inside the skull base, there is a balloon. Shoot it with an arrow to get the Korok Seed.
  • West of the Zelo Pond, there is a part of the Hylia River that is shallow enough to stand on. There is a deeper circular area with a jar in it. Shoot it with an arrow to get the Korok Seed.
  • Just east of the Bottomless Pond, which is a bit north of Riverside Stable, there is a Korok on the west side of the river trying to reunite with his friend. Link can reunite them by carrying the Korok all the way around, using the Rebonae Bridge to the north, or he can cross the water by using Ice Fruit or some floating device.
