Catch bugs in certain amounts of time

Rewards

Bug Heaven is a mini-game from Skyward Sword. It is located on Bug Rock, where Strich decides to create a bug paradise after Link defeats Bilocyte.[1] During the game, Strich allows Link to go around the island and catch bugs with his Bug Net.[2] He shows Link certain pictures of bugs that he must catch, and then times him to see how long it takes to find them. There are two different levels: the Bug Beginner and Bug Wrangler.[3]

Beginner

The Beginner level costs 20 Rupees to play. Strich shows Link a picture of five different bugs—specifically a Skyloft Mantis, Volcanic Ladybug, Lanayru Ant, Sky Stag Beetle, and Starry Firefly.[4] Strich gives Link 30 Rupees if he catches them all within five minutes and 50 Rupees for a time under three minutes.[5][6] If he manages to complete it in under two minutes, Strich is impressed, but he reminds Link that he is only playing the Beginner version.[7] The possibilities for rewards are a stack of five Blessed Butterflies, Skyloft Mantises, or Sky Stag Beetles, or Deku Hornets.

Wrangler

The Wrangler level costs 50 Rupees to play. This time, Strich shows Link ten pictures of bugs instead of just five.[8] The bugs that Link must catch are one Skyloft Mantis, Lanayru Ant, Woodland Rhino Beetle, Blessed Butterfly, Gerudo Dragonfly, and Sand Cicada, as well as two Faron Grasshoppers and Eldin Rollers each. The prizes are also greater in this round. If Link completes it in under five minutes, Strich gives him 80 Rupees.[9] If Link finishes in under either three minutes or two minutes, he gives him five bugs. For under three minutes, the bugs can be five Woodland Rhino Beetles, Gerudo Dragonflies, Lanayru Ants, or Volcanic Ladybugs. For under two minutes, Strich gives him a stack of five "rare" bugs, which can be Eldin Rollers, Sand Cicadas, Faron Grasshoppers, Starry Fireflies, or Volcanic Ladybugs. He also compliments Link and says he is a master bug catcher.[10]

  1. "[Link]? I wasn't expecting to see you here. I flew into this thick fog and ended up on this island. But once I got here, I looked around and realized...this is some kind of insect paradise! So I decided to go after my dream and raise a bunch of bugs here. Now I can spend my days catching all the bugs I want! You want to try catching some bugs? I'll release a few for you, so why don't you give it a shot?" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  2. "I'm going to be timing you while you're in the course. If you get a decent time, I'll give you a prize! In the Bug Beginner course, I will show you pictures of five different bugs. Catch one of each to finish! Got it? OK, get ready!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  3. "I have come up with two levels for my bug-catching competition: an easy Bug Beginner level and a Bug Wrangler level for real bug masters like me. Since you aren't a bug lover, I'll charge you 20 Rupees for the Bug Beginner level and 50 for the Bug Wrangler level. Do you want in on this?
Bug Beginner! :Bug Wrangler! :No, thanks." — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  4. "I'm going to be timing you while you're in the course. If you get a decent time, I'll give you a prize! In the Bug Beginner course, I will show you pictures of five different bugs. Catch one of each to finish! Got it? OK, get ready!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  5. "Next time, try for under three minutes. Oh, and I guess I should throw you a little money. Here's 30 Rupees." — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  6. "Next time, pull out all the stops and try to finish in less than two minutes. Oh, and your prize this time is 50 Rupees!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  7. "Stop! Stop! Time's up! That was just... incredible! Oh, but let me just remind you that you were doing the Bug Beginner level of difficulty. Next time, try Bug Wrangler! As a prize, here are five of my absolute favorite bugs!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  8. "I'm going to be timing you while you're in the course. If you get a decent time, I'll give you a prize! In the Bug Wrangler course, you will need to catch a total of 10 bugs that I specify from among eight different types. Got all that? OK, get ready!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  9. "All right, here's some money. You get 80 Rupees!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
  10. "OK, time's up! ...Th-this is amazing! I don't have any choice. I'm forced to admit you're one of the all-time greats of bug catching! I bow down to your bug-wrangling skills. Let me give you your prize! You get a set of insects... Five rare ones at that!" — Strich, Skyward Sword.
