One-handed weapons are a category of weapons in Tears of the Kingdom. One-handed weapons have many differences from other Tears of the Kingdom weapons categories. When you perform a Perfect Dodge and get a Flurry Rush, you will get seven hits out of it. One-handed weapons are lighter, and therefore quicker, but require four hits before a critical hit. Holding the attack button charges up a Spin Attack. Link can use a Shield while a one-handed weapon is drawn. These weapons largely seem to not have sufficient mass to readily open wooden and metal crates with a single blow, save from some exceptions; however, they are more effective in this task than spears.
