Treasure Chest Games are recurring mini-games in The Legend of Zelda series. They are completely optional to play, and are meant for the player's enjoyment.

A Link to the Past

There are three Games of Chance in A Link to the Past, run by operators. Two are in the Light World—one south of Kakariko Village, one in the Lost Woods—and one in the Dark World, in the Village of Outcasts.

In the Light World games, Link can pay for a choice of one from three chests. The game south of Kakariko costs 20 rupees, the Lost Woods game costs 100 rupees.

In the Dark World game, Link can pay 30 rupees to open two chests from a choice of sixteen. Piece of Heart #17 is amongst the prizes.

Ocarina of Time

The Treasure Box Shop in Ocarina of Time, also known in-game as the Treasure Chest Shop, is found in the Hyrule Castle Town Market. It is only available at night, and only during the Child Link era. Link can enter the game for ten rupees, at which point he will be given a Door Key and will proceed to the first room. The objective is to guess and choose a treasure chest in the hopes of obtaining another Door Key—Link continues this process until he reaches the final room which hosts the ultimate prize; a Piece of Heart. Consecutive wins will gain Link 50 Rupees.

The above is a hint displayed by the third Gossip Stone located in the Temple of Time courtyard. It alludes to the Lens of Truth, which allows Link to see through the chests to snag an easy victory.

Majora's Mask

The Treasure Chest Shop in Majora's Mask is located in East Clock Town. It's open from 6 AM to 10 PM. Depending on what form Link takes, the owner will give him a discount for appearing rather attractive (Zora—Link only pays five rupees!) or make him to pay a hefty price for seeming to be unattractive (Goron—Link has to pay a hefty thirty rupees!). The reward for the game varies upon which form Link takes, with it ranging from a small set of ten Deku Nuts in the Deku form to a grandiose Piece of Heart in the Goron form.

The objective in this peculiar rendition of the Treasure Chest game is to reach the treasure chest like always, however, this task is made especially difficult as the checkered floor rises at key moments, making the flooring much like a maze in structure. With only forty-five seconds to spare, Link has to make the most of his time to receive his reward.

Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages

The Treasure Chest Game in Oracle of Seasons is located in the basement of the Horon Village Shop. The same game can also be found in the basement of the Lynna City Shop within Oracle of Ages. The game can be accessed in either Seasons or Ages only after Link buys every single item from the main shop.

The game is structured as so: the shopkeeper has two treasure chests, one being empty and the other containing a large, red rupee-like gem. If Link successfully guessed the chest that contains the gem three times, the Shopkeeper will ask Link is he'd like to keep the prize or continuing playing. This goes on until Link wins a fifth time, at which point he wins his prize—a random Seed Ring.

Should Link continue playing the game, he will get progressively rarer rings upon completion.

The Minish Cap

The Chest Mini-Game Shop in The Minish Cap is located in Hyrule Town. Link can pay the shop owner, Borlov, to choose between two chests in another room. Borlov tries to talk Link out of playing the game, in hopes that he will not have to gamble.

Breath of the Wild

Main article: All or Nothing

The All or Nothing can be found within Lurelin Village in Breath of the Wild. The shop is run by Cloyne and is a variation of the Treasure Chest Game. Link can choose to bet either 10, 50, or 100 rupees. He can earn rewards, depending on how much he bets, with the maximum award being a Gold Rupee. In Breath of the Wild, Link can choose between three treasure chests, two of which always contain Green Rupees, whereas the third chest has the top reward.
