Sheik is a character from Ocarina of Time that was said to be member of the Sheikah tribe, a familiar tribe in Zelda games. Towards the end of the game, Link discovers that Sheik was really Princess Zelda in disguise to hide from Ganondorf. Despite this, there is much controversy over her true gender.
Appearance
Sheik designed herself exactly like a member of the Sheikah tribe, with a blue jumpsuit and boots. She hid her face quite well, and had the Sheikah symbol on her chest.
Role
In Ocarina of Time, Sheik served as a sort of mentor for Link. She would appear before the hero before he was to face every adult dungeon. She would gift him with a song that would transport him to the entrance of that particular dungeon. When she reveals herself to Link, she gives him several Light Arrows; a very useful weapon that can be used against Ganondorf.
Other Appearances
Sheik appeared in a few other non-Zelda games. One of them was Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube. In this game, the player could play as Zelda and change into Sheik. The player could play as either Zelda or Sheik in one game, or continuously switch back and forth if the player so desires. Sheik also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, similar to the way she appeared in Melee. The combination with Zelda was the same, but the artwork was that of Twilight Princess' style.
