In this volume of Nintendo Power there is a special feature talking about the technology that goes into creating an NES Game Pak. There is discussion of MMCs, known as Memory Management Controllers. Early NES games including ''The Legend of Zelda'', ''Metroid'', and ''Kid Icarus'' used this technology and it opened up vast new worls for the NES. A screenshot is shown of the original Legend of Zelda. The MMC1 chip was used in the Legend of Zelda and it allowed for screen scrolling in both a horizontal and vertical direction.
