:I agree with Charitwo. Most of your search algorithms are not affected by capitalization or tokens such as underscores or hyphens. [[User:TheDoctor8910|TheDoctor8910]] ([[User talk:TheDoctor8910|talk]]) 16:56, March 7, 2021 (UTC) |

Capitalization makes a difference in this case.
I created the redirect because the hyphen (-) makes a difference. The hyphen makes "Shield-Surfing" (capitalized) a whole word, different from the whole word "Shield-surfing" (non-capitalized).
If it were an underscore (_), that makes no difference. The underscore makes "Shield_Surfing" (capitalized) the same as "Shield_surfing" (non-capitalized).

- Eh, as an admin, I'm fine with the redirect. Like Enjoyer said, redirects are cheap.
- I'm less certain about the formatting of the actual page with the hyphen and the -ing, however. Second thing first, usually you try and keep to the simplest form of the wording for a title. And first thing second, from the "Ability Controls" pause menu:

@ Sanityormadness - Thank you for the image! I'll put it up in the article. As far as the redirect, I just wanted to cover any permutation for the search.
I'll also create a redirect for "Shield Surf", now that I'm looking at the image...

- As mentioned in the edit summary, resources are irrelevant...this is a matter of validity. The redirect literally does nothing. You will still find the article regardless of whether it exists or not. I actually do this for a living and actively involved with the development of MediaWiki, please don't take this personally.
- Just as a proof of concept we'll use Anti-Fairy as an example. You can put "anti-fairy" or "anti-Fairy" and it will find it and there is no redirect.
- Addendum, I missed part of the conversation, a couple more items to address:
- Underscores are purely cosmetic, it's the DNS compliant version of a space. In a wiki article you should generally avoid using them because it's not aesthetic. Shield Surfing or Shield_Surfing is the same thing to Mediawiki for example.
- Hyphen has no bearing on search capability.
