"These particularly clever monsters bury themselves in deep sand or snow and disguise themselves as treasure chests. Anyone who approaches the chests is attacked. The treasure chests are not magnetic, which proves that they are actually a part of these monsters' bodies."
Treasure Octoroks are enemies which appear in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity.
Appearances
Breath of the Wild
They have 8 HP, and disguise themselves as a buried chest, only to pop up and ambush Link when he nears. One simple way to distinguish a regular buried chest and a Treasure Octorok is by using the Magnesis Rune. If the buried chest cannot be moved with the rune, a Treasure Octorok will be hiding.
Upon death, they will drop and assortment of octorok parts and any random amount of green, blue, red, purple, and rarely silver rupees as well.
Age of Calamity
Treasure Octoroks in Age of Calamity are similar to their Breath of the Wild counterparts. They disguise themselves as treasure chests, before then popping out of the ground and launching a projectile attack towards a warrior. Upon being defeated, they may drop an Octorok Tentacle, Octorok Eyeball, or an Octo Balloon. After each Treasure Octorok is defeated, the player will receive an Octorok Trophy, which can be used to complete quests or upgrade weapons of the various warriors.

Trivia
- Treasure Octorocks, in spite of possibly not living close to any bodies of water, may drop dead fish upon being slain.
