The Fire Rod is an item that appears in A Link to the Past, Four Swords Adventures, and A Link Between Worlds.
Appearances
A Link to the Past
The Fire Rod is obtained in a Treasure Chest in the Skull Woods. This rod spits out a ball of fire that sears most enemies to a crisp. Some enemies like Gibdos are especially vulnerable to fire, so use the Fire Rod wisely. The Fire Rod can also be used like the Lamp to light torches, but from a distance only. It is needed to enter the main part of the Skull Woods dungeon. This item is also used for defeating Trinexx in Turtle Rock.
Four Swords Adventures
The Fire Rod in Four Swords Adventures functions in a similar fashion to its other incarnations. If the item button is held down, the Fire Rod acts as a flamethrower, shooting a continuous stream of fire. Once upgraded to level two at a Fairy Fountain, the Fire Rod gains the powers of the Cane of Somaria, as seen in A Link to the Past, creating blocks that can be used to depress switches. The upgraded Fire Rod can also create platforms in specific locations marked by a question mark. Shadow Link even uses the weapon against Link in certain encounters.
A Link Between Worlds
In A Link Between Worlds, Link can rent the Fire Rod for 100 Rupees along with other items after Ravio's Shop opens. However, once Ravio lets him purchase items, the Fire Rod costs 1,200 Rupees to purchase it. Once Link has bought it, he can upgrade it to the Nice Fire Rod after finding ten lost Maiamais and giving them to Mother Maiamai.
Unlike previous Zelda games, when Link uses the Fire Rod, it unleashes a pillar of flame that travels across the ground and disappears shortly afterwards, depleting the Energy Gauge. As a result of traveling across the ground, if Link uses the Fire Rod on top of grates, the fireball will go through the grate and be on the lower floors of the dungeon. Being used to defeat ice-based enemies such as Ice Gimos and Ice Bubbles, the Fire Rod is also used in order to melt ice such as the ice layer surrounding Dharkstare and ice stalagmites. Like the Lamp, it can light torches, but Link can light them at a farther distance than the Lamp. Similarly to the Skull Woods in A Link to the Past, the Fire Rod is needed in order to enter the Ice Ruins in Lorule.
Breath of the Wild
The Fire Rod in Breath of the Wild can be found on Fire Wizzrobes all over Hyrule. It is a very dangerous weapon, as it can shoot rather large fireballs which can light objects on fire, such as grass or leaves. It can be used as an offensive tool, or one for solving puzzles, such as in the Sah Dahaj Shrine. It has a base power of 5.

Appearances
A Link to the Past
When Link uses this weapon, it shoots out a blue beam to freeze the enemy, but it consumes some of Link's Magic Power. It is found on Lake Hylia's shore inside a cave to the east. Despite Link being able to acquire the Ice Rod before even entering the Eastern Palace, the item isn't required until near the very end of the game. Link needs the Ice Rod in Turtle Rock when battling against the dungeon boss, Trinexx.
A Link Between Worlds
The Ice Rod can be found in Ravio's Shop to rent for 100 Rupees or purchase for 1,200 Rupees. Unlike before, this weapon floats a block of ice in the air that can be dropped on enemies. Once Link has bought it, he can upgrade it to the Nice Ice Rod after finding ten lost Maiamais and giving them to Mother Maiamai.

Master Sword

Master-sword.png
Main article: Master Sword

In Breath of the Wild, the Master Sword can be found in its pedestal in the Korok Forest, guarded by the Great Deku Tree. The Great Deku Tree reveals to Link that if a person deemed to be weak attempts to draw the Master Sword from its pedestal, they will slowly lose their life. This means that Link must be powerful enough to draw the blade from its slumber and, unlike any previous incarnation, he requires at least thirteen hearts to successfully retrieve the sword (These hearts must be permanent heart containers: using consumables that temporarily increase your maximum hearts will not allow you to obtain the Master Sword). Upon taking the sword, Link will obtain a memory of the sword being placed in the pedestal; however, this memory is not actually Link's, rather, it is Princess Zelda's. Zelda placed the sword in its resting place after Link's near-death, where the hero would come to retrieve it once more after his slumber in the Shrine of Resurrection.

The Master Sword has a base strength of 30 damage, initially leaving it outclassed by a multitude of other single-handed weapons. Its true power, however, comes in the presence of evil when Link ventures to certain areas or draws near certain enemies. This includes all guardian variations and the entirety of Hyrule Castle, as well as the four Divine Beasts, where Ganon's presence is most powerful. The blade will glow with a blue aura, and its strength will boost to 60 damage, making it the most powerful single-handed weapon in the game.

Like all other weapons in Breath of the Wild, it can be rendered unusable after extensive use. However, it is special in that the Sword will never break, or disappear from the inventory after obtaining it. After the Sword loses its power from extensive use, it will auto-repair itself gradually and return to normal after some time. When the Master Sword is engulfed in its true power, it will gain a huge durability boost.

The Master Sword plays a prominent role in Link's memories, and is once again indicated to only be usable by the chosen hero. During Link's final memory, and Zelda's memory when the Sword is retrieved, it is shown to be in a severely damaged and rusted condition, something that has not been seen in any previous Zelda game. After being placed into its resting spot by Princess Zelda, the Sword gradually regained its luster and restored itself to its most powerful state.

After Link's death during his final memory, the sword begins to flash blue and emit a sound that is the same as Fi's in Skyward Sword, indicating that she is still present within the blade. Fi speaks to Princess Zelda, and tells her that Link can still be saved by taking him to the Shrine of Resurrection, where he can fully recover to fight Calamity Ganon once more.

"The legendary sword that seals the darkness. Its blade gleams with a sacred luster that can oppose the Calamity. Only a hero chosen by the sword itself can wield it."

Tree Branch

Tree-branch.png
Main article: Tree Branch

The Tree Branch is a weapon found in Breath of the Wild. They can be found lying on the ground across the Great Plateau, and later, across all of Hyrule itself. Link can use these Branches to attack enemies; conversely, they can also be used be enemies to attack Link. Tree Branches are one of the weakest weapons in the game; they do very little damage, with a base power of 2, and break easily.

Tree Brances can be lit on fire and will burn up quickly. While on fire, they can be used to light campfires or burn other nearby objects.

"Wooden branches such as this are pretty common, but it's surprisingly well-balanced. It doesn't do much damage, but can serve as a weapon in a pinch."

— In-game description

Torch

Botw-torch.png
Main article: Torch (Breath of the Wild)

"This torch will stay lit once ignited, but if you put it away, the flame will be extinguished until you light it again."

— In-game description

Soup Ladle

Soup-ladle.png
Main article: Soup Ladle

The Soup Ladle is a melee weapon found in Breath of the Wild. It has a base power of 4, and can mainly be found in urbanized areas across Hyrule, such as Hateno Village. It is a simple wooden implement, and should not be used as a weapon by any means, since it has a low durability, base power, and can catch fire.

"A kitchen implement often used for serving delicious soups. It was carved from the wood of a sturdy tree, so it actually packs quite the wallop."

— In-game description

Boomerang

Boomerang-botw.png
Main article: Boomerang

The Boomerang makes a return in Breath of the Wild, but this time in many forms, including the standard Boomerang, Giant Boomerang, Lizal Boomerang, and more. This weapon can be used as a sword, through means of melee attacks, but can also be thrown like a traditional boomerang. If it hits a solid object, it will lose all momentum and drop to the ground. In order to retrieve a boomerang after it has been thrown, the player must hit the A button as it nears Link. In the case of this not happening, it will keep going for a small distance and drop to the ground, where it can be picked up. The standard Boomerang can be found in the Pumaag Nitae Shrine.

"This throwing weapon was originally used by the forest-dwelling Koroks. Its unique shape allows it to return after being thrown."

— In-game description

Spring-Loaded Hammer

Spring-loaded-hammer.png
Main article: Spring-Loaded Hammer

The Spring Loaded Hammer is an unusual hammer found in Breath of the Wild. It has a base power of just 1, and can be obtained by visiting Kilton's shop; the Fang and Bone. He sells this item for 199 Mon. It is more of a novelty item rather than a respectable weapon, due to its often humiliating effect and low damage output.

"This strange hammer is one of Kilton's specialties. Being struck by it doesn't hurt much, but the forth swing in a string of attacks will send the victim flying."
