The Tempered Sword, also known as the Master Sword Lv2, is a sword from A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds. It is the third sword that Link can acquire.

A Link to the Past

To obtain the Tempered Sword, Link must find the Dwarven Swordsmith trapped in the Dark World, and take him back to his brother in the Smithery, east of Kakariko Village. As a sign of gratitude, the brothers will offer to upgrade Link's Master Sword—however, the forging process takes time, and so Link must leave his sword with the brothers for a period of time. Eventually, the brothers will have forged the Master Sword into the Tempered Sword, which they return to Link.

In-game, the Tempered Sword appears identical to the Master Sword, but the blade is now a reddish-orange instead of blue, and it makes a deeper slashing sound when swung. It deals twice as much damage compared to the Master Sword, although Sword Beams are not affected.

A Link Between Worlds

To obtain the Master Sword Lv2, Link must talk to the Blacksmith at the Blacksmith's House after collecting two pieces of Master Ore.
