Many snowballs can be found in the winter of the Snowhead region. Like grass tufts in Termina Field, they often contain basic items such as rupees, hearts, Magic Jars, arrows and bombs.
The Twin Islands have many large snowballs, also called 'snow boulders, which can be broken with Goron Link's punches. Some contain enemies, but one holds the trapped Goron Elder, who needs to be freed for Link to learn the Lullaby Intro. The path to Snowhead Temple has large, rolling snow boulders, which can flatten Link on impact unless he is rolling as a Goron with magic spikes engaged, or stopped and ready to punch them at the right moment.
Four Swords Adventures
Large, rolling snowballs appear as hazards similar to boulders in the Frozen Hyrule stage.

Breath of the Wild
Link must roll snowballs downhill, accumulating snow and momentum along the way, to break open doors allowing him to enter Gee Ha'rah Shrine and To Quomo Shrine; the Hebra Great Skeleton is also located in the latter's cave, which is part of the Leviathan Bones Side Quest. He must also use a snowball in a different way to get into Suma Sahma Shrine - the Secret of the Snowy Peaks Shrine Quest has him cast the shadow of a snowball onto a Shrine Pedestal between 16:00 and 17:30.
Koroks may hide under snowballs, e.g., at West Sapphia's Table; and they also act as the bowling balls in Pondo's Snowball Bowling, or "snowling". They melt if exposed to fire.
Snow Octoroks spit snowballs as weapons.

Snowballs can be fused onto weapons, but they are fragile and have a low Fuse Attack Power, making them almost worthless as such. Snow Octoroks appear again, spiting snowballs as ammo.
