Rift on Holy Mount Lanayru is a Main Quest in Echoes of Wisdom.

Overview

After Zelda and Tri mend the Stilled Hyrule Castle Town rift, word comes to Hyrule Castle of new rifts opened in Faron Wetlands, and on Eldin Volcano & Holy Mount Lanayru. This begins the Lands of the Goddesses quest, as the king of Hyrule sends Zelda to investigate all three.

When Zelda and Tri arrive on Hebra Mountain, a freezing blizzard covers the entire area. This lasts until they reach Condé's house, where the yeti - who, unusually, can see Tri without apparently having been in a rift - invites them in to wait out the storm. While waiting, Condé tells them about his big brother, who apparently is on an adventure in a hot-air balloon, and was going to Holy Mount Lanayru from the peak of Hebra Mountain. Condé, along with his now-deceased father, was waiting for his return.

When the storm passes, Condé leaves to "clean" the mountain, first shovelling snow that blocked the entrance to a cave. When Zelda and Tri go through the cave, they find Condé trying to clear the "dark gunk" of a rift. Unable to convince him to stop, they find an entrance to the Stilled Hebra Mountain Cave rift, and rescue five groups of Tri's Friends to mend it. With it gone, Condé assumes he fixed it, and jumps off. Zelda and Tri make their way further up the mountain, and after exiting the cave, they find Condé looking at the back of a yeti-like figure he thinks is his big brother. When the figure ignores him and jumps off, he goes chasing after it.

At the top of Hebra Mountain, they find Condé lying on the ground, having been knocked down by what he believes to be his big brother. Convinced that it happened because he wasn't good enough, Condé sits at the mountain's edge, depressed; while Zelda and Tri find an entrance to the big rift and enter Stilled Hebra Mountain, from where they reach Stilled Holy Mount Lanayru. In a cave on the latter, they find a cave painting by Condé's big brother, mentioning his "dear little brother" and that he "can't wait to bring Condé with [him] someday".

They ultimately reach Lanayru Temple, and work their way through it until they reach the figure who Condé thought was his brother, but was revealed to be the unrelated boss, Skorchill. After defeating the boss and mending the rift, they receive Nayru's Sanction from the voice of the goddess herself, who tells Zelda she has demonstrated true wisdom. After this, they return to Hebra Mountain, and pick Condé's spirits up by telling him Skorchill was just a monster, not his brother, and Condé's actual brother is still adventuring.

Step Description
1 Keep searching for a way to get to Holy Mount Lanayru and its giant rift. You'll have to make your way through the snowy heights where smaller rifts have spread.
2 As you braved the terrible blizzard, you heard a strange sound like a growl. There's something...very unusual nearby.
3 You met Condé out in the blizzard. He lives on Hebra Mountain and has welcomed you to stay with him until the blizzard is over. Follow Condé to his house.
4 Condé told us that his big brother headed to Holy Mount Lanayru from the peak of Hebra Mountain. But for now, enjoy the comfort of Condé's house until the blizzard is over.
5 You're able to leave Condé's house now that the blizzard is over. Tri has sensed that some of their friends are in a cave that Condé just cleared the entrance to.
6 As Condé cleans the mountain, he's trying to get rid of a rift. Despite what Tri said about it, he's going to keep doing it his way...
7 Tri made an entrance to the rift that's inside a Hebra Mountain cave. Enter this rift, and look for Tri's friends.
8 You saved Tri's friends and took care of the rift that was in the Hebra Mountain cave.
9 Condé was happy to see the cave rift taken care of, and he has now gone off somewhere else. Tri said they can sense more of their friends from the top of the mountain.
10 As Condé climbed Hebra Mountain, he started chasing someone and jumped farther up the mountain.
11 You heard Condé shout after you got to the peak of Hebra Mountain. His brother knocked him down, and Condé thinks it's because he disappointed him. Condé said his brother went north.
12 You found large footprints at the top of Hebra Mountain that could be from Condé's brother. They lead into a rift. Tri created an entrance, so you can enter it.
13 You found writing from Condé's brother on a wall inside the rift on Holy Mount Lanayru. The kind words show that Condé's brother really cares about Condé a lot.
14 You took care of the rifts on Holy Mount Lanayru and Hebra Mountain and received a sanction from the goddess Nayru for showing great wisdom. Now you can return to the normal world.
Complete You took care of the rifts on Holy Mount Lanayru and Hebra Mountain. Condé also now knows that his brother isn't upset with him and will await his return in the best of spirits.
