A Rift in the Gerudo Desert is a Main Quest in Echoes of Wisdom.

Overview

After completing the Suthorn Ruins, Zelda will soon after unlock the Searching for Everyone quest. This places two markers on her map, one of them being in Gerudo Desert. When Zelda arrives at the Gerudo Desert entrance, this will begin the A Rift in the Gerudo Desert Quest.

Requirements

Walkthrough

  • As part of the Searching for Everyone quest, a marker appears in the Gerudo Desert. Once Zelda arrives at the Gerudo Desert, it will trigger the start of the A Rift in the Gerudo Desert quest.
  • Zelda can travel to the southwest part of the desert, just south of the large rift. When approaching the rift, Tri can find an entrance, but it is beneath the sand. Tri encourages Zelda to ask around, how to get under the sand.
  • After talking to the Gerudo soldier that is standing guard in front of a cave, a noise can be heard in the distance, but the Gerudo won't leave her post to check it out.
  • Just to the southeast a Gerudo is attacked by a series of enemies. Clear the enemies and speak with Dohna, the captain of the Gerudo Warriors. Dohna will tell Zelda to visit the chief in Gerudo Town.
  • After arriving at Gerudo Town, Zelda and head to the north end to speak with the Gerudo Chief, Seera. She dismisses Dohna's request, causing Dohna to run off.
  • After leaveing the palace, one of the guards relays a mesage from Dohna, telling Zelda to meet her at the Oasis, just east of Gerudo Town.
  • At the Oasis, Dohna tasks Zelda will fixing three of the smaller rifts, found at the Southern Oasis Ruins, Ancestor's Cave of Rest, and Southern Gerudo Desert.
  • Zelda must travel to those three areas of the desert and complete the three main quests, Southern Oasis Ruins Rift, Ancestor's Cave of Rest, and Southern Gerudo Desert Rift.
  • After all three quests are completed, Zelda can return to the Palace to speak with Seera. After some convincing on Dohna's part, as well as the Gerudo warriors, Seera agrees to let Zelda investigate. However, they are interupted by news of a growing rift at the east end of Gerudo Desert.
  • Travel to the large rift at the northeast part of Gerudo Desert where the soldiers have congregated. Tri wlil open up a rift, allowing Zelda to jump into the Still World.
  • Zelda will find herself in the Stilled Desert Temple Ruins and will need to collect five of Tri's friends.
    • Travel north and head down the ladder. Make your way through the side-scrolling area, avoiding the traps that try to squish Zelda. Use Bind on one of the traps at the end of the cave to move it out of the way and then climb up to find the first of Tri's friends.
    • While inside, Zelda can actually fight these Platbooms that are trying to squish her. Use a Boomerang Boarblin Lv 2 to attack and defeat the Platboom, and then learn the Platboom Echo.
    • From the ladder, head west and south to find more of Tri's friends on the higher pillar. Use the Platbooom Echo and a Trampoline Echo to reach her friends.
    • Jump to the very far east island in the rift, there is a Boulder that is glowing. Use Bind to move it out of the way to get one of Tri's friends.
    • At the far north end of the rift, use some Soft Beds to reach more of Tri's friends.
    • At the northwest corner of the rift, there are more of Tri's friends on a stump, next to a frozen Facette.
  • With all of Tri's friends restored, they will be able to mend the rift. Try will transport Zelda back to the Gerudo Desert.
  • Facette will be revealed to have been compromised and Seera will take care of her. She then advises Zelda to visit the Gerudo blocking the entrance to the cave near the Gerudo Sanctum.
  • Travel to the cave, just west of the large rift at the south part of the desert. Speak to the Gerudo and then head inside the Cryptic Cavern.
  • Use a Spear Moblin Echo or other projectile to hit the switch and continue to the next room.
  • Learn the Wind Cannon Echo and progress to the next room. Hit the switch to cause a treasure chest to appear, and make your way over, learning the Gibdo Echo. Open the chest for a small key.
  • Make your way around the cavern and use the small key on the locked door. In the sidescrolling area, drop a Rock Echo onto the Pathblade from a high enough distance. Defeat it to learn the Pathblade Echo.
  • Make your way through the side scrolling area. Use a combinations of beds and trampolines to get by. In the next area defeat the Gibdo Lv. 2 and get its Echo.
  • Use Bind on the key and pull it, causing the sand to drain. Exit the cavern and enter the Gerudo Sanctum.
  • After completing the Gerudo Sanctum, this will complete the quest.

Adventure Log

Step Description
1 Look for a place where you can create an entrance into the rift that appeared in the Gerudo Desert. Start by searching the area around the large rift.
2 Tri found a place beneath the sand where they may be able to create an entrance into the rift. Go ask someone in the area if there is a way to get under the sand.
3 You heard a scream while asking a soldier about how to get under the sand. The soldier is concerned, but she cannot leave her station.
4 To get into Gerudo Sanctum, which is currently submerged in sand, you need to talk to the Gerudo chief. Head to the palace in Gerudo Town. Captani Dohna said you'll find the town in the west.
5 The chief and her aide do no believe that rifts can be mended, and they denied your request. Dohna left the palace, determined to prove to them what's possible.
6 A soldier passed on a message from Dohna, asking you to come to the oasis. The oasis is located east of town.
7 You've been asked if you can mend any of the three small rifts that have appeared in the desert. The rifts are located in Southern Oasis Ruins, the Ancestor's Cave of Rest, and the Southern Gerudo Desert.
8 You've been asked to mend any of the small rifts that have appeared in the desert. The remaining rifts are in the Ancestor's Cave of Rest and the Southern Gerudo Desert.
9 You've been asked to mend any of the small rifts that have appeared in the desert. The remaining rift is in the Southern Gerudo Desert.
10 You weren't able to mend any of the three small rifts. After receiving a message from Facette, you've decided to head back to the palace to share the news.
11 Warriors were swallowed up by the rift that grew larger in the eastern part of the desert. Chief Seera rushed from the palace in a panic, with Dohma following after her.
12 Tri created an opening in the rift that had swallowed up the Gerudo warriors. Dohna asked you to mend the rift and save the warriors who were taken.
13 The Facette who was in the palace was an impostor. Chief Seera has chosen to believe you and Dohna and gave permission to restore the sanctum's entrance. Head to the cave in the southern part of the desert.
14 After removing the plug in the cave, the entrance to Gerudo Sanctum appeared from beneath the sand. Now you need to finda place to create an opening into the rift.
15 You created an opening into the rift in Gerudo Sanctum. Enter and mend the Gerudo Desert rift.
16 The rift in the desert has been mended, and Tri's friends are saved. You should head back to your world now.
Complete You mended the rifts in the desert! Peace has returned to Gerudo Town. Dohna and everyone else have returned to their everyday lives.
