It is available in the [[Town Tool Shop]] for 200 [[Rupee]]s. It can be used to uncover many objects from the ground and is required to dig up the [[Slime Key]] in [[Pothole Field]]. In the [[Nintendo Switch]] remake, [[Link (A Link to the Past)#Link's Awakening|Link]] can also dig up a [[Warp Portal]] with the shovel near the [[Seashell Mansion]]. It is one of the items that can be traded to the [[Secret Goriya]] for the [[Boomerang]].
