I expanded slightly, I might have gotten some lore wrong so I'd suggest everybody double checks what I wrote. Shouldn't be considered Stub anymore anyway.

{{Spoiler}}
The Split Timeline Theory was speculated among fans immediately following the release of ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]''. After finishing the game the player might notice that there are actually two endings, One ending where Zelda sends Link back in time and they stop Ganondorf from rising to power. The other one being where Zelda stays in the future, This is the alternate reality where Link has been sent back but Ganondorf still remains imprisoned within the Sacred Realm. The latter is the Adult Timeline, Link has been sent back to his own time after defeating Ganondorf and leaving him imprisoned springing a different chain of events that certain games within the series make sense within while other do not fit, Those that do not fit are most likely placed in the [[Child Timeline]].
